Krullibulls Ae86 BEAMS is the only way
Hello!
Thought it was about time that I put up a project thread here on my 86. The beginning of this thread I'm going to convert my old Swedish thread from our dead drift forum. Will translate as much as I can from the old thread. I will put up a spec list in this post later on. Enjoy! |

Krullibulls Ae86 BEAMS is the only way
Here the old thread starts:
Some pictures from when I picked it up in UK. Some pictures of the work to get the car registered in Sweden, basically had to have it stock. Some skidding wheels with way too high offset. Changed out the welded diff for a TRD 2-way for both the regs and I hated driving with it. Put in some windshield squirters for the regs. Welded up the worst of the rust on the car A friend welded up my "stock" exhaust while I was at work. At this point the things left for the regs was: stock steeringwheel, rear seatbelts and stock seats. Put in the rear seatbelts for the regs and MOT only, not driving with anyone back there. Made a workbench for my first own garage (been at my dads before) out of grandpas old shed table. The AE86 got trough the regs so now I could remove the stuff that was there for the regs only and get a MOT. Started removing stuff that was there for the regs only. Big thanks to Bentley here on AEU86 for lending me the seats The distributor started leaking from the seals so a rebuild was in order. The bushing for the panhardrod fell out in three pieces Started changing out the rubber bushings to poly bushings. More work with the bushings. Old thread continued: Did my first driftday and first time out on the track at Anderstorp Raceway. The clutch started slipping on Anderstorp so I changed it and had the flywheel refurbished, in hindsight I should have bought a light one instead. Did my third driftday at Greenvalley Racetrack And this is how far the old thread goes but it's not up to date so I will "start" my thread from here I think . Sorry for the massive amount of pictures and lack of text, didn't feel like translating everything. But if there is any questions just ask! |

Yes it's Jonnys old car .
The engine is stockish you could say, still on stock management. I've already spoken to your dad, no parts that I wanted and the spare shell was already sold . Seems like Imageshack has resized the last few big pictures So to continue this thread where the old one stopped. This is not up to date yet but we are getting there The TRD 2way was starting to give up on me so when I was going to remove it anyway I figured why not go all in on the rear end? So I did just that So I got a 4.77 R&P, max grip kit for the LSD and 28mm driveshafts all from Wier Performance. All new hardware and bearings aswell. Grinded and chemically removed all the rust from the axle and pumpkin then zinccoated everything and applied a top coat of Hammerite. Got the wrong Hammerite tho so it doesn't hold on that good when using a jack on the axle Switched around the valvecovers to prevent oil getting in the intake, worked surprisingly good. Bought some Driftworks tension arms. Was not really pleased with these. Strange assortment of included hardware and the "paint" was a joke. But other than that they seemed really good. Bought a new sump to replace the buckled one. The plate was a missorder from me at Toyota and since it was nonrefundable I put it in. This was done at the same time as the electrical fan from a Volvo 940. Bought a thermoswitch to control the first stage of the fan (second stage is on a switch on the dashboard). But they were out of those anodized aluminum hoes joints. But my friend called me up and said: "Hey! I've got a bend from a Saab with the correct thread, you want it?". As per the picture, I did . Decided that I wanted to make myself a short shift. I followed the guide that is on this site and bought the T3 rebuild kit. It was supposed to be 21mm, right? Don't have any pictures of the very nice adapterplate that I bought of someone on this forum. But it turned out really nice. A small pipe would probably been better to use as an extender but it has hold up sofar and I've not been kind to it. The clutch master cylinder started leaking so I replaced it, the slave cylinder and put in a braided hose. Did some more Driftdays and broke some more stuff. The manifold speaks for it self but the distributor... One of the coils had it's copper wire wound out and around the shaft. That happened after ~1hour of tracktime with a +5hour journey to get there... Fixed that quite easy. The manual says that these coils can't be replaced but they provide all the info needed to make a swap? So I took the coil from a AE92 distributor and soldered it in, got it to spec, reset the computer and fixed! More stuff to come, we are still about 2 years away from today |
