Dual carb set ups - ?
Hi Ben

Quote:The TPS adaption will be tricky, but not difficult........it will be harder to get the machining sorted if you dont have a machinist i would have thought.

I need to get an idea on how I can do it. Thankfully the old man who maintains my Fathers classics is very talented in machining his own parts so I will have a word and see if he can lend a hand.

For the vacuum feed plenum is any specific design needed, or do I simply need a small chamber of any size with 4 vacuum feeds going in and one coming out for the MAP sensor? Might have a go at bashing something together.

Quote:Regarding management.......IF you can get your OE setup running the ignition, i think it will work quite well as it will be a 3d map and it will be mapped specifically for a 4age.

Would the fact that its not adjustable ultimately limit the performance I can get? That’s the main reason why I am also considering some aftermarket solution; Just for the added adjustability.

Quote:I dont know the megajolt system, but i am not a fan of cheap management solutions.......they become time consuming and a pain in the ass.

Me neither, seems like a simple system using OEM Ford parts but I don’t know its limitations, for what it costs it may be worth experimenting with. Would a VEMS system be worthwhile, one consideration is that in the future for ultimate performance I may replace the Carbs for ITB’s?

Does anyone else on here have any direct experience with the Megajolt system? Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Cheers

James

Hi Ben,

Another one for you …

Looking at the image of Ian B’s set up for the vacuum plenum and I am a bit confused?

Obviously the big black pipe is the brake booster and there are 4 orange pipes which are for the individual vacuum feeds for each throttle body.

There are also another 2 orange pipes with fitted ends on – I can see one goes to the map, but its T’ed off? What’s that for? The other runs along the bulkhead and disappears.

Is Ian running a stock ECU or an aftermarket ECU – just trying to work out if that vacuum feed is for the ECU or if its powering a vacuum gauge?

Cheers

James
