It should work if you retain the ECU.. I suspect many people ditch the ECU alltogether.

FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC!

It is dependand on ECu, all the signals it gathers are interpreted by ECU who decides on timing.
Genuine 4AGE dizzy cant work on its own.

But, any other standard distributor which has complete ignition logic, just need to change gear and plug it into head.
You will need to change igniter and maybe coil.

In simple terms: The ECU will use sensor input (MAP/AFM, CAS, etc...) and set timing according to it's internal map and adjusters for other factors.

Does the ECU change the ignition timing or the injector timing ?

both - in your case there wouldn't be any injectors to drive.

can you elaborate your question a bit more? I don't understand what you're asking.

Izanagi, I guess you are determined to make stock distributor work. You can't, not without some extra electronics wthich will either use additional pickup (crank/camshaft) or the one in stock distributor. Both ways demand serious fabrication.
It is easier to either buy specific ignition solution or adapt other distrubutor.
