dazed_driver Wrote:wow! that looks great, one thing though, what are you going to do about your heater? I was stealing your design for the strut links for my rally car... but my heater's blower motor is in the way!! Mind you, im LHD, I dont know if that matters. Did you just move your's over? Or are you running an aftermarket defroster?

That, im afraid is whats proving to give me headaches right now, i dummy fitted the blower fan and there is no simple way it will fit, and i MUST run a demister, basically to get it registered and it actually does get frosty down here in the winter Undecided Ive put it aside for now, as its just a huge headache. Huh right now im just concerned on getting it into a rolling shell, my struts are done, brakes are sorted, and most of the suspension parts are sandblasted and painted Smile

parrot Wrote:I'm seriously impressed at the effort you are putting in to this. You reckon you will be able to take it out on a stage after all that work?

And what's the go with the HDT Torana?

Its actually not as pretty as the pictures make out, its a traditional rally car paint job, you might have noticed i havent painted the outside or the panels yet, as i wasnt going to let steel spark fillings rust all over it while i put it together (the outside paintjob i'll do in a booth once it gets rolling)... and it will be tough putting my pride and joy out there for the 1st time, the first time i drove in competition on the dirt, i kinda of bent the car.

and the LJ torana is a genuine Xu1 gtr, and from what i could tell is a spot on brock replica, we were putting a rollcage in that when it was in the background

raki Wrote:Hi Andy,
I´m very impressed seeing your work! And it´s nice to see so many rallydrivers on this board. I didn´t spend much time in the body of my rallycar. I bought it with only a rollcage and just do a bit work to keep the rust away...
I hope you´ll be successfull with that car!

Best regards,
raki

P.S.: Added you in msnm

Thanks. this is realy the only forum where there are other ae86 rally cars ive seen (everyone is abit obsessed with the drift) i have been kind of lazy the past couple of weeks, but will update it with more pictures soon.

ill need to pick your brain for ideas on what you did to your car Thumbs up!

Andy.

yeah not a genuine HDT car, its a good replica mind you!

to put an update on this, engine gbox and diff are in, bought all the fuel lines and brake lines (teflon braid, as a result i am broke!) but fuck they look nice...

should be running mid july.

its in the middle of autocross season here so ive decided to get it running, put it together without painting the panels, get some km's on the car, so it will be a mainly blue with panda doors, grey bonnet, gold bootlid...will look very average...but it will go well...

I'll paint it before the first rally in early november.

will take better pics soon

small update, went to start it, but didnt realise the headstuds were just too long, rubbed on the dizzy, resulting in a broken dizzy and all the teeth on the exhaust cam shearing off...

ohwell, was my mistake! should be fixed mid week Smile
