Sooo I finally own an AE86 (Never thought that would still happen).
Originally only the bare shell was for sale but he was willing to make a good deal to make it mostly a roller. He still uses an AE86 for rally so he wanted to keep the drivetrain, suspension and front end.
Good thing that I was hoarding parts for years already, so I had a lot of the parts anyway.

It has been heavily used as a rally car (Also one that could be rented) so its far from pristine, but want to use it for drifting anyway so now I don't have to feel guilty.
From what I can gather it has been used as a rally car from atleast 2001, but have a suspicion that it did in the 90's as well.
Previous owner mentioned that it did VLN as well and also has a '94 VLN sticker on the dash.
At the last outing in 2017 at Teuven hillclimb it crashed so it has some damage as well (somehow I didn't take a photo of the left side, thats a bit worse).
The doors still close so thats not a priority right now, want to get it driveable first.

A friend bought the red one.

Ofcourse I couldn't wait to make it look more like a car again so threw some of the parts on it before I left. [Image: AEU86 AE86 - ex rally '84 AE86]

Couple weeks later I found some of the missing parts that I didn't have.

Congratulations! Looks like a big project though to get it into drivable shape. But if a registration isn't the primary goal, there's way more things that can be done to get it drivable again.

Awesome! Hurray! more AE86's in the area Smile

It looks pretty solid in the pictures. Usually an advantage of ex race/rally cars. Is the color scheme VW inspired? Cool

Thanks!
It was a driveable car two months ago before he pulled the drivetrain so not that worried about it. It helps that I already had the drivetrain and electronics that he kept.
Even registration shouldn't be that bad, its mostly cosmetic that needs attention.
The most work that i'm not looking forward to is to get all the blue covered in red Big GrinCrying

Yes finally!

Yeah its not bad, ofcourse it has rust but it could be way worse.
I have no idea what it is inspired by Tongue , only thing that I found in my research is that the blue yellow combination was very popular in german rally Crying

Here you can see the complete livery:

Congratulations! Thumbs up!
The shell doesn't appear to be that rusty, except for the rear part. You could fix that up without paying too much attention to detail and hide that behind the bumper.
I hope the owner didn't also pull the wireloom out.

The 4AGE that will be used for a bit.
Cams looked a bit rough so gave them a quick polish.
I hope it will be good enough to survive a drift day in a couple of weeks.

Have another one wich I want to rebuild in the winter.

Made some progress on the drivetrain this week.
Love how easy it is to install the motor in this.
Still waiting for a bellhouse gasket for the t50, so that will be installed later.

Yeah I think thats the worst rust on it. No idea how only that part is that rusty while the pockets are mint O.o
But indeed will be covered anyway so not worried about it.

Nope he only pulled the engineloom and ecu.

Looks cool in the original livery Smile why change the blue for red? I probably have most of the window moldings lying around if you need them.
