Coming along nicely, although I wasn't a big fan of club4ag still a lot of info has been lost since it crashed.

4AGE block differences explained (incl. some eyecandy)
Due to realising that I have indeed got 9.4:1 low compression pistons – I am yet to double check if I even have a 7 rib block – as I just assumed it would be!
Did the engines which these pistons were used in, run TVIS? My TVIS did not work even though I swapped over two manifolds – it could just be a loom fault however. Could someone clear that up for me poss? |

All bigports were running TVIS. Simply put the TVIS is based on 4 parts: the flaps with actuator, vacuum canister, vacuum hoses and trigger solenoid. Obviously if any of those are faulty or wired/connected wrong way it won't work. Also a non TVIS ecu is a possibility. AE86 ex-daily |

Its not the ECU as that is still the original supplied with my MR2.
I did swap a working tvis manifold from my old mr2 engine onto this one and it didn't work, so it must be a loom fault. |

Mercifully I do indeed have a 7-rib block!
So, if I have low comp pistons does that mean i have a low comp engine? |

the block has technically nothing to do with compression - so yes low comp pistons equal low compression
