pinion adjustment
I have some vibration at high speed and I'm fairly sure the pinion angle is the problem as I use a single piece propshaft. I'm wondering if it would be possible to make just two of the link bars adjustable rather than all four. Probably the longer ones, to adjust the pinion angle.

Yes its possible, but you might get into trouble with the angle that the shocks, springs and swaybar mounts end up at. That caused a lot of binding on our car.
Definately worth a shot though.. you'll catch the problems soon enough. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

Shim/washer on the trans mount, same thing just on the other end for a quicky test.

Mine is a single piece prop so I no longer have the centre bearing and
mount. Good idea though

I could be a bit thick here but I don't see what you mean Allen.Can you please explain further.
I have measured what is required and the top link bars need to be 4mm longer to get the propshaft straight, do you think I will have trouble with this NoHachi ? An analogue brain in a digital World |

There are lots of sites about U-joints/driveshafts, mostly 4WD but still applicable & simply written.
I'd search for one or more & read. **************** Also, 'pinion angle' is a bullshit term that doesn't mean anything, you're going to be concerned with a U-joint angle, front rear whatever. |

TO clarify. As a quick test using washers and longer bolts you can space the trans/crossmember down or raise the trans mount off the crossmember to change the driveline included angle (U-joint operating angles) to possibly temporarily reduce vibration & verify what kind of change you need.
Making adjustable lower arms is fine. 4mm of movement (if thats the correct amount) shouldn't induce any kind of series binding on most setups. Andrew |
