axle swap time how capable is a std crownwheel and pinion
Hi,

I´m about to major upgrade my drivetrain.

After cosidering a lot of options how to strenghten up my rear axle, I found this to be the cheapest and easiest solution.
http://www.weirperformance.com/axlekitsc...erear.html

All those axle swaps dont really work out and are nowhere as cheap as this. Even H100 or Estima Axles which cost about 100€ with brakes and everything from the scrapyard need so much work, like redrilling the pcd, wateryetcut the brackets, new Seals/ bearings, freshen up the brakes, change the propend rebalance it, find a decent final drive ratio etc so even to me, who can do most of it myself, or know the people that can do stuff for meis myself it not worth it.
Decent Atlas Axles are well expensive too ond they only come with a single row wheelbearing...

Anyone here using these shafts?
What I´m really intrested in, it looks to me like this kit maintains the orignal 6,7" final drive gearkit, so I´m a bit worried.
Weir says capable up to 300hp I belive the shafts are, but what about the gearset?
Anyone got real life expirence when they break?
I´ll be running nothing crazy, only around 160bhp through Ford type 9 gearbox with an unsprung carbon clutch and I do like multiple 3rd gear clutchkicks at the moment (running 121bhp).

So if any one stripped a final drive let me know what you were running and what you were doing, this hopefully helps me to make up my mind Wink

Thanks

I personally have used this and loved it. I sold it to upgrade to a CelicaSupra one. But god I loved the spool and the big axles were a nice peace of mind addition.

Personally, exept one or two mails, he always answered me.

If you have a hard time to contact them, contact Driftshop, they import Weir products Wink
(the website is in French, but they speak English too)

everything will hold up a bit better if you ditch the unsprung hub for a sprung one

Thanks for your replies,
I´ve bought a few times from weir, and normally get a response the day after.

The MCN AE86 runs gives me a good measure, I´m only looking for half the power so it should be allright.

@oldeskewltoy

Do you know anyone who does them?

I would think almost any clutch company can make what you need... are there not any clutch companies doing this in Europe?
