NZ AE85 - soon to be BEAMS powered
An update on the exterior part of the build...
After hunting round for a couple of months, I managed to get my hands on a Kouki bumper, including bumper irons and corner lights. It was removed from an imported drift spec Hachi from Japan, so it had seen better days. I got it fully repaired and repainted. Stoked with the results. |

nothing drastic, was fiddling with the throttle adaptors, lost a little metal olive down a throat. didnt check the throttles befor i started it, and little metal bit didnt get through the engine without rooting it lol.
car looks great man, also consider adaptronic, i will be able to supply a decent tune to get you going aslso... would save a buttload over tuning from scratch as the duall vvti catchs a LOT of tuners with their panties down clutch kick, switch, tree .... oowwww |

NZ AE85 - soon to be BEAMS powered
Here are a few pics taken by Keisuke, a cool guy that runs the http://86fighters.wordpress.com/ blog.
Apart from lowering the front an inch or two further, the car is pretty much where I want it to be from an exterior point of view. I'm really pleased with how it turned out. My next update (fingers crossed!) will hopefully be of the BEAMS going into the engine bay, and 3AU going in the bin! Just waiting for my fabricator to finish up on his current jobs (should be in about 3 weeks). Can't wait for some nice N/A power. Really looking forward to driving my Hachi with the new BEAMS powerplant. |

NZ AE85 - soon to be BEAMS powered
Finally time for an update!
The 3AU is out, and BEAMS is ready to go in. I went into the workshop this morning and took the opportunity to degrease and clean the engine bay before the BEAMS goes in next week. I forgot to take any 'after' photos of the engine bay though! Goodbye 3AU Hello BEAMS |

Just a few pics from today.
Pretty happy with the placement of the engine. Sits flush against the firewall. The firewall had to be massaged a little bit, but it was pretty minor. Intake plenum will need a small section shaved from the back to clear the booster, but again this will be a minor modification. They did a great job with the engine mounts. I'll need to chop the bonnet to retain the engine cover. Or take it off and leave bonnet as it is. I think I'll keep the engine cover off for now. Gearbox is getting bolted up this week. Still need to sort out rear end and front brakes. |

Engine and gearbox went back in for the last time today - all bolted up and ready to be wired in.
A few pics of the gearbox fitment for those that are interested... A chunk of webbing had to be shaved from the gearbox for clearance reasons... The gear lever can moved forward and re-bolted onto the factory bolt holes. Probably gained an inch or more. Doesn't sit too far back now... A lot of people said that fitting the stock plenum is near impossible. This is not the case. It's super-tight, but clears. We'll simply run a remote resevior for the master cylinder... |
