Recently my brother picked up a pair of Momo Rookie seats from a rally car. Waiting to be mounted when I get back.

Just need to find a pair of 3 point Sabelt harness and the leg supports for the seats.

And that's all folks!
Tongue
at least for now!

After a short visit to Portugal I installed the new bucket seats (I still have to finish fabricating the passenger mounting brackets)

Got a new set of wheel lug nuts, which will hopefully be better and stronger than the old ones

And the suspension is now complete, finally!... Smile

Tokico HTS short stroke with Eibach 80N/mm (F) and Swift 60N/mm ®, with all the parts to coilover conversion at the front.

Everything will be assembled in June, and I can't wait for the test drive...

It was bought along the past few months.

But it took me 3 years since I thought about this setup until I actually had the will power (and the economic power) to actually get it Smile

Chassis development review...

I finally got back to Portugal for some long waited summer vacations, and the task at end was the complete assembly of the new suspension front and back.

Day 1

Rear suspension assembled. Tokico HTS and Swift 60N/m, prothane bushings to the rear swaybar and the panhard, four link and traction brakets with rose ends and ajustable lenght.

The first test run revealed much improvement, even with the same front suspension as before.

Going back to the garage and jacking the car up again. More work to follow...

And some pics...

Old rear suspension parts (good riddance my friends...)

Day 2

Disassembled front suspension. Found 2 blown out dampers... yummy!

30mm slice chopped off (to match with the 30mm spacer that will go under the damper, making up for the stoke difference to the OEM damper)

MAG welded, and with a strong linkage between the two parts.

Ready to sand and paint

At the end of day 2, this was the look of the front suspension struts.

Only the tension rod ends were being a pain in the ass to remove, so I took the chance to disassemble the compete mountings and the sway bar came with them.

Day 3

Another full day working around the suspension and the result is showing. Front coilovers finally ready!

And prothane bushings in the front sway bar

Tension rod ends mounted after some struggle with its nuts and bolts
[Image: AEU86 AE86 - AE86 N2 (big update)]

All the fabrication was done, and the next step was to mount everything in its place.

Day 4

Early morning start and by lunch time all the suspension parts were assembled.

Then the brake disks and calipers were installed and a quick alignment was made (trusting in my "good" geometric judgment), so I could drive the car to the actual alignment shop.

After 2 hours of messing up with all the adjustments that the new suspension offers, the car was successfully aligned and all the bolts tightened and re-checked.

Suspension setup as follows.

-2,5 deg camber
-3 deg caster
0.1 deg toe out

Front track was slightly increased as well, adjusting the lower control arms. This adjustment has to be compensated in the camber plates so the camber doesn't get insanely negative.

The test run was conclusive. The car is now a breeze to drive, the control is awesome, very solid and direct. The car is less forgiving though. As long as you keep your driving within its limits everything it's excellent and predictable. But as soon as you cross that blurry boundary and the car snaps out, it does indeed SNAP out. There's no margin for error, or a really tiny one and because I'm no Ari Vatanen, it's better to be aware of this temperamental behavior of the car.

But in the end, all the work was well worth the result.
I'll try to get some better pics tomorrow.
