Hello!
I finally took some photos which do the car justsice. I am currently building a custom 3D printed headlight intake with the general goal of building a slightly Cyberpunk inspired car ![]() This version is just a prototype for now, features a "Pop-Up" evil eye but doesn't have any hight adjustment yet. The plan is to make this adjustable, maybe delete the Flap and add a SAE/E marked light to make it legal for road use in other countries. But that aside, I am already super happy and think the vision I have with the car is slowly taking shape ![]() |

That headlight looks evil indeed!
![]() Is it even legal to drive with two different headlights in Japan? Here in the Netherlands the rules aren't that strict, but having two different colored headlights will certainly have the police stop you here as well. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: ![]() |

In the long term I am thinking about making them both yellow so they match and I would even be able to get Shaken with it. My goal is to also build a general possibility for people who need to replace their headlight but don't want to pay a fortune for factory ones. All with E/SAE/DOT certification so it could even be eligeble for europe ![]() Probably without the flap though, in a slightly more elegant, simple version |

Certification in Europe wouldn't be a big issue as long as they adhere to the SAE regulations. Getting them to pass Tüv regulations might be a bigger issue, as it would cost time and money. Would it be possible to pass a car during the Tüv test with just an SAE-approved part?
I forgot to ask, but I would assume the lamp units themselves are LED. Would it be possible to make them multi-colored? ![]() 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: ![]() |

I am currently working on finding a supplier for E-Mark approved lights. I'll need to get in touch with my TÜV friends in Germany but I believe when I worked there, my collegue once told me, as long as the "light part" is E-Mark approved, you could build your own housing for the headlight and still be legal. Well, thats the plan, will see if I can make it work ![]() |

Right, that makes sense. However, that begs the question that if something is approved in a country with some loose rules and laws, it would pass in stricter countries.
