Aussie ae86 rally car
Hey man,

been watching this for a while and its a great car you have there.

My brother is now living in perth and has a hot spot for 86's. He's just sold his stage car because it was going to work out difficult to get it out there which is a shame.

Do you know of any nice 86's or mk1 MX-5's about at the moment arround Perth ? he is looking to start a new sprint car project.

Regards Ian.

Sorry Ian, i completely didnt see your post until now. I dont know of either of those cars being very available. you can get cheap unregisterable mx-5's for almost nothing (jdm imports). but the hassle of it being towed everywhere doesnt jump at everyone.

rally season starts in about 10 weeks, i found a co driver who wants to enter me in a NATIONAL round Huh Banging head .

so i need to get the car to something better, i got a albins gbox sold from under my feet so im not to pleased, but this has been the last week's work.

I like this project! I don't see very many rally ae86s, and it's refreshing to see something like this! Good luck with the rest of your project!

almost no sleep from getting the car ready, mentally drained, just had a big lapse...and ran out of talent..

it can be fixed.

Ow shit that wouldnt have felt so good

Good luck with the rebuild and thankfully you spend time of doing the cage right

Just one thing , welding bolts WEAKENS them ie: on the pedal set up , just machine tap some rod to size with a wide flange and weld that in. Sure it might last forever but its on the brakes.

noted.

its all coming apart again because it had a huge brake fluid explosion when it went over., will have to repaint the engine bay again.

as for the cage, it not even touched, the roof just grazed it when all the wiehgt was on the corner, when it went sunny side up, it popped back up...the cams scrutineer said its only a 'love tap' when it check out the damage.

forest rally april 3-4...my gf is going to hate me, and i will need shares in redbull.

What master cylinder's are you running? Could I get the brand and model number? Also, what bore?

EDIT

Also, what front brakes and handbrake are you using?

Oh, and whats that lifeline thing on the center console?

Wow, I could have sworn I had an account here... I guess I'm the new guy Sad

Master cylinder are Trailer cylinders! as in the ones people put on trailers...5/8" and 3/4" inch

no idea on model number, i just went down to the brake parts store and got them..

front brakes are ae101 20v brakes, using some endless pads..

i suffered for VERY bad pad knockoff earlier in the day so i will have to get knockoff springs before the next event..

The handbrake is a no name one, locally made here in perth if i remember...cost of around $400 (about 220 pounds)

the lifeline box in the centre console is the firebomb controller (fire suppression system) press a button and the cabin and engine bay get doused in foam (hopefully)
