the original 16v oil cooler is not a full flow oil cooler, it is a partial flow oil cooler.
If you use a mocal sandwich plate instead of the original sandwich place all the flow is redirected,thus converting the system from partial flow to full flow. As such you need to use a different oil cooler and bigger ID hoses ... I would not run my engine with full flow oil cooling with anything bellow 12mm ID (the ID of the original oil cooler is about 9mm, it might not sound much difference but in cross sectional area it is a lot of difference).
