Heh wow, the sedan actually looks pretty cool with the rectangle front lights - dont see them like that very often.

I'm taking my car for Cert tomorrow - which means once it passes I'll be all road legal finally. Heh.

The A6 Celica/Carina topic
I`m sorry to wander straight into this topic, I only have a rusty A4, but have ordered a sufficient engine for it, the 2T is a bit underpowered and harder to get up/down the mountain pass here, even fully loaded 60 tonne semi-trailers are faster uphill Tongue

The reason I`m busting in here is because while I`m at it, I want a better front suspension setup for my rina, and was wondering if any of you highly knowledge-able A6 owners know whether an AE86 front hub (Got some AE86 hubs & calipers coming in) will fit the A6 spindle or if AE86 brake discs will fit the A6 spindle? (Would need custom caliper brackets either way of course) Smile
I`m asking because TA60 has rack & pinion steering vs TA40 worm & roller, and AE86 seems to use the same wheel bearings (So brake upgrade should be feasible) however I am unsure if the spindle lenght is the same.

i think the front struts on a TA40 are exactly the same as the AE86s ones, only the smaller brakes. If you have the full AE86 front legs, they swap right in.

Don't know if the parts are interchangable, but the whole unit does bolt in.

TA60 stuff might be the same, but i never confirmed that.
I know that Celica 2.0XT/1.6GTS and 2.0GT (and Supra MA61) legs are fysically the same, but with bigger brakes again (14" is the smallest wheels which fit them) and a different bolt spacing on the bottom.

Thanks for the info Doctore!

AE86 legs are a bit too expensive.

I too was told that AE86 aftermarket inserts will fit inside the TA40 struts, but it does me no good if I`m still stuck with the worm & roller and solid discs Sad

I recently earned two donor cars at my disposal, a ta60 and ae82 totally wrecked years ago, still not disposed of.

None of them are GT`s, both are just normal models.
I helped the owner rebuild his kitchen and outhouse, so I am allowed to take any parts of those two cars before they are disposed off before winter.

Thats basically what I have available and so I was hoping to be able to throw something together Smile

steering rack is a whole different league.
Why do you want to get rid of the old system? I have the same in my KE20 and i love it. If it's maintained in a good way, it's a perfect system. I've got no play, lovely steering feel and a really tight turning curve (i can make a u-turn on a 2 way street without problem or doing the 3 point thing Smile )
