This is the car that I dream of. One day I'll have it here. Seriously. Excellent stuff, and I may have to hunt you out when I next return to the UK, I went to uni in Derby, my family are from Matlock/Chesterfield and the Mrs' family from Melton, so I'll be around at some point.

How many of these conversions worldwide are there now?

Happy New Year to all at aeu86.org. I'm sorry I have not posted for a while as my work is practically taking over my life LOL.

Sure thing dude - if its about when you are you are more than welcome to come and see it.

That is a very very good question.

When I started there were 2x HotSTAFF cars in Japan and 2xEvolution converted cars in the USA (Gabriels and one of T3's customers)

As of now...

2xHotSTAFF Cars

2-3 T3/Evolution Converted Cars

1xIRL Eric O'Sulivan - but a know there is at least one more conversion taking place in IRL at the moment.

1xWhite Boy Jon converted cars in the USA (who now happens to sell engine/gearbox mount kits to get the engine in the car without cutting the tunnel - this all stemmed from not being able to cut the shell due to FormulaD regulations). There are a few others brewing as a direct result of this kit.

1xCanada - my friend Pat's car has been running for about 18months now

1xFrance - a guy on Honda-Tech has just done one.

1xAUZ - another chap I met from honda-tech is doing one right now.

plus - there are 2 more underway in the UK - but I'll let the owners let you know who they are Tongue

There are also at least 2 starlets that

so - the reason for this post is I have a small update Hurray!

The technicians at RS are still working away and the shell is almost ready for final re-assembly which is great. Just have to sort out some paintwork for the interior and engine bay before that happens though.

so what have they been up to ?

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Ian.G's Track/Drift Levin.]

All seam sealer removed from front legs and turrets to make way for some welding.

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Ian.G's Track/Drift Levin.]

from the other side you can see where the stitching has taken place. Also the seam of the wheel arch has been cut and stitched to allow for wider wheels and no rubbing when running larger castor.

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Ian.G's Track/Drift Levin.]

Traction boxes now installed into the shell along with another non-load bearing bit of metal removed from the edge of the seat well/flat of the boot floor.

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Ian.G's Track/Drift Levin.]

And obviously now from the underside you car see the new upper arms are the same length as the lowers.

We'll just have to see how this works out when the time comes to align the car and set up the axle.

Right now I kinda hope that the car could be almost back together end of feb/early march.

I am not even thinking about this years drift season in any great detail. I want to make sure I am able to get the best out of the car which means lots of seat and setup time before it or I go anywhere near a competition.

Regards Ian.

Still great project. Following this for a while now.

If you need seat time come to our Track Day at the Ring in early march.
Might be a little early though. Would love to ride shotgun and see some details.

Cheers

Hi all im doing a conversion in Ireland.
good to see an update ian !
Are you going to use the standard petrol tank ?

1xWhite Boy Jon converted cars in the USA (who now happens to sell engine/gearbox mount kits to get the engine in the car without cutting the tunnel - this all stemmed from not being able to cut the shell due to FormulaD regulations). There are a few others brewing as a direct result of this kit.
Any more info on this Ian.... wouldnt the engind be sitting very far forward ? it would also have to sit lower to clear gearbox tunnell. cant imagine the handling being great with it that far forward...

let me know about manifold....

Thanks

Maurice
