Ian:

What kind of fabric you used to cover your dashboard?
It looks sweet...

Its electro static flocking - its not a covering like a material of some sort. I believe the surface is covered with something that is electrostatically charged - then the flocking is sprayed and it is attracted to the charged surface and stays there.

typical to see this sort of thing in rally cars to help reduce the glare that you get from the dash on the windscreen when you are blasting through the trees.

Hi Ian,

Loving the project can't wait to see it when its done.

I need to get the dash and some other interior bits flocked in my car. How hard is it to get out and back in again, do you just remove the skin or the whole dash beam etc?

regards

Matt J..

No - its pretty easy.

You dont remove the main metal beam that carries the steering column.

If you take the fronts off the speaker covers, the plastic beneath the steering wheel, centre consoles and instrument cluster you can get to the main bolts that the dashboard/crashpad (as its called in the workshop manuals) in one piece. You'll have to deal with all the pipework for the heater/blower that lives behind but its not too much work to be honest.

Great news I'll have a go this weekend, I've found a place in Ipswitch that does it for about 75-80 quid, so i'll get the dash and some of the other interior plastics done while i'm at it.

Thanks for the info

Hey Ian,

I was wondering if you already got some pictures of your car with the run free bodykit?

Sorry man, not yet.

The shell is still at NMS being worked upon.
The bodykit will probably be the last thing done to the car.
Its a shame because I'd like to see what it looks like too.
