7 rib bluetop
Today I called Toyota asking them for some engine info. Got a code from my block which was in my hachi. They asked for the VIN number and I said that the reason why I'm calling is cause I think I have an other engine(swap in my hachis early days). Anyway they said it's the original engine Huh

The reason why I thought its been swaped was that it's a blue top head and 7 rib block and also, the camgearcover gasket does not fit properly.
Anyway, called dAYTONA and asked him to check if he's got the same block(his car is just couple months older). And he has also a 7rib.

Bill writes that there was a bigport with 7rib and it was for FWD and had black lettering on the covers.

Could this mean that some kouki have 7rib bigports?

I can't vote properly... I got more than one hachi.

But I have one 7 rib, and three 3 rib big ports, and the rest I don't know..

I am currently using a 7-rib bigport that came out of a '86 AE82 GT, black and red lettering on camcovers. Before this engine I had a black and red lettered 3-rib bigport from an ae92 (original engine) and before that my ae86's own 3-rib black and blue lettering bigport. The 7-rib block was designed to bea stronger block for the first GZE I believe, so they probably switched to 7-rib engines in phases around the time the supercharged AW11 was introduced.

Robokill, Toyota has confirmed that the engine numbers on Phills 4A-GE match his AE86. So it means it came out from the factory like that.

I also have a 7 rib block in my Red Kouki. Maybe AE86's with chassis numbers past JT1S0AE8600245000 have 7 ribs. I will check my Silver/Gray kouki next month. But it has a lower chassis number...

It is widely known on the net, that AE86's had the early 3 rib blocks. Practically the same as the 4A-C but with EFI. However, it seems europe might have gotten some of the goodies.

If there were any 7 rib blocks in AE86's, it would only be in a late car. I have had both in mine, the 7 rib initially a front wheel drive engine. The 3 rib is a bit harsher at revs which isn't a surprise.
