That’s the wrong way to install a cooler......
.

The original sandwich plate is a "pressure valve", it means that only if you have excess pressure the oil goes trough the oil cooler, it is not a full flow sandwich plate. This is not good, because as your oil warms up the oil pressure goes down, and less oil goes trough the cooler....
