RS2000 4 speed gearbox will fit the Fensport (RM sport) bellhousing. Type 9 will also fit but the gearchange isn't quite as nice as the 4 speed and the 4 speed ratios are better IMHO.
I use a standard AE86 type clutch cover with a MGB clutch plate (200mm) AE86 release bearing with the carrier bored out to suit the type 9 You will need to change the spigot bearing in the end of the crank also. A gearbox mount is easily fabricated using the AE86 mount modded to use the ford rubber. Then it's just the propshaft. If you use the 4 speed gearbox no mods to the gearbox tunnel are needed, the 5 speed 'box is just a little too long for the original gear lever hole. hth, TC An analogue brain in a digital World |
