nzae86's TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2,
Here are some races from the second weekend , car ran faultless except for the alternator deciding it had had enough of life and failing as I was about to go and grid up for day 4 morning race , replaced it and raced the final race of the event .

Nearly threw it away after getting squeezed into the wall on turn 1 in the last race ,but managed to gather it up with out hitting anything , I have my lap times down by 2.8 seconds from last year so I am heading in the right direction.

Will probably do one more day at the track and then time for an engine strip down and check over again.

Photos of the event are here

Out of interest, why didnt you go for a sequential box? I would have thought it would have kept that motor more in the sweet spot, as it seems to bog down a little at times?

I wanted to keep the car eligible for classic racing , sure TRD/ Quaife made a dog box but not sequential . But they were used more in the rally cars than the N2 cars

nzae86's TRD ae86 N2 Race Car Project 2,
Everyone already probably knows this so I hope the following words are taken with a spoon of salt and a healthy mindset:

Them quaife dogboxes boxes are dang expensive @ 3-4k english quids PLUS shipping and tax, Lampola makes some cheaper dogboxes with good ratios at around 2K quids, and these are used by hard-driving Finnish people so should be every bit as reliable IMO Smile

Should still be eligible for classic racing though as the dogboxes retain the original gearbox shell, if it`s talk about internals, remember when Toyota put TRD stuff in their Gr.A engines, time came for internals check and everyone said those parts were not homelegated, Toyota went: Yes they are... Formula Atlantic!
I`m sure there are a lot of loopholes to be exploited, if it was me I`d have no qualms about it seeing as the car already run 1600cc vs what looks to be 3,6 porches or what not!

Thing with those dogboxes is yes you get quick shift-up, but you have to double clutch when shifting down, otherwise the dog engagement teeth`ll be worn down!

Again, spoon of salt, healthy mindset! Big Grin

I`m curious as to what you mean by your statement in the last video description: (Time for more horsepower) when you unarguably already have the best 4A-GE engine parts ever to be attained and then some Respect!

But seriously, I am curious!
You mean you still have some tricks up your sleeves on various details?
Hasselgren butterfly ITB`s?

Owh and, I`ve been aware of this car and the builder for quite some time (The yellow AE86 you use for fun is awesome enough already!)
Just wanna say this build, the other builds and cars + the owner of them is forever insane in an awesome way! I bow all the way to Japan and back for this!
