looks great - so many twincams became rally cars, just like the Evos. Well done for reversing the process, and many happy slides and rings to you and the 86.

Love the mirrors also - what car are they off originally ? they look like EastBear mirrors

Did a lot of work on it the last couple of days.
Couldn't get it to run on fuel only brakecleaner, so everything worked except injectors. Ended up being that I forgot to check if the ECU was from a Zenki, and it was not Banging head
Luckily I could borrow one from Koen (Thanks!).

Received my order with parts

So now I could replace the 2T bellhouse with a 4A one.
This is a late T series T50 out of a Charmant so it was luckily a straight swap.

Bought a mobile lift wich made some stuff a lot easier.

Charmant box and a welded TA40 diff mountedHurray!

Played a bit with the portapower to get everything a little bit better.
Before

After

Also the left A pillar took more damage then I originally thought.
Somehow this wasn't noticeable when the car was on the ground, I only spotted it when it was in the air.

Not ideal but with some help from the portapower I could get it alot better.

This also made the windshield fit better.
Because I need the car to be driveable this weekend I glued the broken windschield back in. Body needs some more work anyway so didn't want to risk a new windshield.
Also first time glueing one so perfect to learn.
Used a bit too much glue but o well atleast it doesn't leak Tongue

Thanks! Yeah on my search for video and photos of mine I saw alot of AE86. Even some that still are in use in Belgium and Germany.

They are rep Spoon mirrors for a Honda.
Hope to find some Eastbear or real Spoon mirrors in the future.

Nice progress! Thumbs up!
In one of the previous photos, I saw the windshield missing, so I assumed you got rid of the broken windshield. I didn't expect you to put it back in that state. Huh
Then again, it's a project car, and it makes sense to glue a cracked one back in if you need to take it out again.

That's a cool style! Cool so full red instead of just changing the blue for red and leaving the yellow. Makes more sense Smile

Is this a "gen3" T50? I have a spare T50 which came with a 2T bellhouse, but it's different to the T50 that came with a 4A one ... it needs a spacer to hold the input bearing to correctly fit a 4A bellhouse (they bolt up fine) according to the internet otherwise they blow up.

EDIT; should add a picture for future reference since all data is becoming rare.

Left box came with a 2T bellhouse, 22-spline output with the correct shifter position (gen2)
Right is from a 4A AE86, also 22-spline (gen3)

A gen1 with 20-spline output also exists (I have one in my green car for some reason, but with different internals)

Notice the difference in input bearing. I don't have the tools by hand to correctly measure them, but by looking up the part numbers of both bearings the width differs.

Nice progress again Hurray!

Yeah wasn't originally the plan to use it, I ordered a Daewoo one.
But it just didn't made sense to use it with the state of the body.

Haha yeah completely one colour, not a fan of the original livery.
Also the yellow is brushed on.

Think its also a gen2, it has the same bearing as your left one wich indeed differs in width only.
If you check the 86 manual the 4A also needs this spacer.
But what i've red online somehow not all people had them, perhaps those where in spec?
CM autohaus on youtube has a video about it.

I have a gen1 as well and made some photos to compare them all.
Because indeed info is very hard to find these days :/

Everything went fine until I put water (As a test) in the system, it revealed several leaks around the thermostat.
After the third attempt I finally fixed it Hurray!

Made it to the drift day but couldn't get the exhaust to seal, ofcourse it leaked before the silencers Undecided
After introducing a hamer and rtv it sealed enough.

It didn't drift well. It was a combination of setup, not the best seating position and bad weather conditions (track was covered with ice in the morning).
But I still had a blast and managed to link some corners.
Somehow it survived all the hotlapping without any problems.

The Mk.1s suit the car well! Thumbs up!
I didn't notice it before, but is the Bastos sticker on the bumper an original relic from the past? My mom used to smoke Bastos, and I remember she was quite proud of the Bastos livery of 1980s ETTC cars. Big Grin

Looked better then i thought Tongue

The sticker is a pretty recent addon, it didn't have it in older photos so not sure but it was in the hands of rally guys so it probably was an original someone had Tongue
There is also a Castrol sticker under the bonnet.
Going to try to save both!
Love the Bastos liveries as well.

I've had the same issue recently with my green car. Always leaked after I refreshed everything by installing a new waterpump, thermostat and housing. Tried 3x to reseal it. Turns out the new water outlet was not flat Banging head so the old one is back on and now it finally stopped.

Great to see the car driving! That's a massive job done!
