Oil temperature !?

You guys with Oil temp. indicator, what's you oil temp and in what conditions ?
What's the max temp. you had ?



I've just installed oil temp. indicator, and it says little to low temp (or is it just me). After 5 min idling and 10km driving normaly it says only 60 degrees celsius.

Where did you locate it?

115°C at peak of my local togue

depending on outside temperatures my oil takes about 7-12min to get over 70°C (drive to work, less then 10km city drive) - can't tell about idling as my start-up idle is stupidly high but can't be arsed to fix it, as it doesn't do any harm (mechanicly)

PS: sensor located at the filter wich is relocated for easy access

In Oil pan, on the Oil drain screw (it was made new to hold the sensor).

The electric fan (for water cooler) switched on at oil temp. of 75-80 degrees..

It might be because of location of sensor, but it isn't way too low..

In my Hachi, summer, city - easy driving - about 90 - 95

winter, same comdition - 80 - 85

Uphil, a bit faster ( Mt Sljeme ) summer, 100

Track, when pushing to much, max 120 after 3 - 4 fast laps.

when i was going I had around 230 farhenheit (didn't calculate back)

But I am running 5w 40 oil for circuit racing. (same goes in skylines etc) So don't know if thats good to measure.

Temp depends on the outside (temp) and on the type of oil. And how you drive. When my engine is warm I don't go lower than 4k
