KP61: The track fridge
Hi! My name is Vitor, I´m 29 years old, from Portugal.

I´m presenting here my project since the newest add-on will be an 4AGE =)

So, hope you guys like it, it´s a super-budget project with some ghetto style things  , and cheap parts.

Early 2006, we (me and my brother) decided to buy a little toyota starlet to track use. Obviously, the money was the big obstacle, so every mod is the cheapest or home-made possible. It´s a 1.3s, 4k engine, with a standard 70-ish bhp.

when we bought it

afterwards, we did some mods:

- custom strut braces
- custom exhaust from headers
- custom springs (lowered -50mm)
- new tyres (toyo proxes 175/60R13 in Front and yokohama A509 165/65R13 in Rear)
- King dragon 35cms wheel
- sparco 4 point safety-belt
- sound deadning removed
- plastics removed, except the dash
- instalation of a switch to the radiator fan
- 10 degrees timing advance
- custom "improvements" in the carb

some pictures of the evolution:

Nice, KP's kick as Smile
All kp's have the rustspot underneath the boot lock.
You still have the standard seats with 4 point seatbelts?

Tks Guys!

Ivan the thing I most enjoy in the web foruns is the amount of valuable information that you can find everywhere, the experiences of each one of the individuals, and of course the good friends that you can reach.

I´ve learned alot since I first visit automotive foruns in 2000, and I, when I have time, visit lots of them. Smile

Most of the time I spent in DW, turbosport, retrorides, but went also to the specific ones, like kp60, aeu86, twincam, 4ag, and 106rallye owners club and 106 ownersclub (since I´ve got one Gti Tongue )

About the engine, well were Trying to be ASAP. Just need the remaining parts and ON it goes! Smile

After that, some stuff were bought:

Cheapo EKTOR Bucket seats with Sabelt Harnesses
[Image: AEU86 AE86 - KP61: The track fridge]

the creation of sliders, using OEM sliders, and providing to switch to the OEM seats

from this...

to this

Done!

We then bought cheap rear koni sports shocks from AE86 to replace the 24 year-old rear shocks (missing to replace the 24 year-old front shocks at that time)

Then we bought some alloy wheels, apparently from a datsun 240z...
OZ type 14C. Familiar to anyone?!? here´s the test fit..

They needed a lot of work.... :smash:

we bought 2 racing gauges (oil temp and oil press), but never installed them! Hope We can do it now! Banging head
