So... way back around OST-070, I was asked if I could reserve OST-086 for Mario....

Mario is our local (greater Portland, Oregon) AE86 reclaimer.... He has pieced together AE86s for the last 5-10 years reclaiming at least 10 from wrecks, and abandoned cars. His personal AE86 is a true rhd Levin coupe that he rebuilt from a damaged chassis.

So when he asked, I kind of felt obliged.... Angel

He brought over his core... (note the TVIS effect on intake valves 1,4,5, and not so much but also on 8 )

His build specs were to keep the stock bottom end (9.4:1), so this build was to maximize the heads efficiency.

First steps... get it cleaned, tumbled, and deburr the casting.

Upon inspection this head had less then ideal machining from Toyota. Chambers 4, 3, and 2 have residual metal "hanging out" inside the combustion chamber.... shrouding intake valves 3, 5, and 7.

2 down... intake short radius is tidy, exhaust ports opened, and the first of the nasty chambers(chamber 2) is now cleared of the shrouding

4 down, valve job finished, just waiting for assembly

I guess someone in the Tahara plant didn't have their morning brew yet. But indeed, that's quite a bad job this person did! Huh

I love watching these threads!

Also, those louvers on the Levin... I'm turning gelatinous.
