Do any of you have something like that?

Sorry, I have no idea what you're talking about. We dont build to FIA here (well, the cages more or less are, with allowances for DOM over CDS), so I don't know what kind of cert you're talking about.

Wow, I could have sworn I had an account here... I guess I'm the new guy Sad

The little inside upper corner gussets on the half lateral

More weight saved! Here are all the pieces that reinforced the rear seat belts/mounts
[Image: AEU86 AE86 - American Rally 86 UPDATE]

Here is the entire pile

For those who are curious, the break down is this;

Each E brake rear cable guide was 2.9oz (2)

Each upper rear spring was 5.1oz (2) [one of mine was 4.7, but as you can tell from the pic... it didnt cooperate....]

Each frame rail upper 4 link mount was 5.9oz (2)

And then the seat plates were 17.3oz, 15.5oz, and 21.7oz

Total savings: 5.12 pounds... It's not super impressive but it didnt take that long to do, and anything to offset the cage weight helps

It lived here

And all the big holes on the frame rails are covered with these little thin discs

Of what specifically?

And can you not just download the FIA article 253 regs and build your cage to that? Thats basically what I did, minus the tubing sizes, as it's DOM vs CDS, so we have an allowance and had to use a big bigger stuff.

his cage doesnt bolt in, its a completely integral part of the car now...

no bolt in cage will ever be log booked (what you need to enter any car into an event here in aus) for full competition rallying...

For mine, the sanctioning body of motorsport here has basic cage designs you 'copy' basically a main hoop, two rear legs, two front legs, side intrusion bars, and a carlos bar...Then they let you do anything else within their added drawings...

It can only be CDS for this type of cage. for Chrome Moly you have to get it put under simulated crash and load tests unless the cage you built is exactly the same as one that was homolegated previously.

i could enter my car in everything but an FIA event, basically as the cage is not good enough for their international rules...

Brake with the left hand, steer with the right foot...

What he said... except mine is DOM, so my mainhoop is bigger then if it were CDS. Can't get CDS this side of the country easily Banging head
