I think the earlier spec corollas (especially the ones that did not have the 4AGE engine) came with drum brakes on the back. Drums are not such a bad thing depending upon what you are doing.
I'm not sure if the axle with drums has the right mounting brackets for rear calipers or not...can anyone else confirm this for our man above ^^^^

Axle is the same for drums but the mounting brackets are different. Its the brackets you need, or make some.
Looking good brother. We'll have to have some M3 love soon. Maybe my corolla will be finished again at the same time as yours?!

Not long now I suspect before it comes home for wiring.
All the brake and clutch lines have been clipped up now and tucked out of the way.
slave cylinder sorted.
and everything is now all clipped up inside
Shane cracked off the final 2-1 collectors for the twirly manifold.
I have a sneaky suspicion he had made a few of them before LOL.
The silencer boxes are made. I have two of them - I'm old now and my ears are bad enough without listening to 110+db LOL. Hopefully I'll get 97/98db so that I can visit places like bedford autodrome without getting banned (again).
exciting stuff.

Great work as always, but may I ask why you use those floorplates?
Personally I can barely fit my feet under the dash as it is, and I've never had any problems with the curvature of the floor.

Ian, that looks great! Bet you can't wait to get it all running at last now..
One thought: That beautiful exhaust manifold will get stained, etc. with use on UK roads, rain, etc. Have you thought of having it heat coated?
I've just been through the (not pleasant) job of wrapping mine in heat proof bandaging. It had gotten stained, etc. and I got sick of changing the starter motor from heat damage (Not a problem you'd have, but perhaps without some sort of protection the chassis rail would get grilled to a crisp after a while).
Those Watanabes look ace on your car!!
Now hurry up and finish it, want to see the video clips once it's running and going sideways!

Maybe he isn't as huge as us Dutchmen.
Maybe he's just as small as Ken Nomura.
Anyway, it looks stunning Ian!
When do you think it will be ready? Can be anytime now I guess!
Oh, and we want full report of course!

Bit more done today (nothing you can see though):
Airbox all trimmed up, drilled and the clasps put on the back to hold the ITG filter. This ones a bit smaller and there is lots more clearance - it just doesn't look quite as mental.
Water pump and thermosat housing came off again today. -6 unions have been welded on so the non-main water lines are all aeroquip.
hopefully be on its way home in a few weeks - well maybe 3 as it has to pay a Visit to Northhampton to get some new windows put in.
I hope we can make it run before the winter sets in.

* Fuel system finished (everything in front of the firewall)
* All water lines aeroquipped after welding unions onto the waterpump/thermostat housing
* Aero bonnet clips done
* Dead pedal done
