The assembly of the Megasquirt ECU was really a nice way to spend the night, while playing GT4 too.
First I assembled the Stimulator:
Here it is (but this was the easy part!)
Now this was the real deal!
Connecting the two pieces of hardware to do some testing...
And after some hours of welding the goal was achieved!
Megasquirt assembled and working properly!
Sorry about the bad quality of the photos.... I used my Nokia 6630 and I was to damm tired to focus....
Now I'm still using the Stimulator to try to keep improving my skills with the software.
This ECU is really a good chance to learn a few things while building your own engine management system!

I was wondering if anyone has a spare MAF igniter?
After talking to some friends that have their 86's (with MAP 4A-GEs) running with this ECU, I realized that I need a MAF igniter to get the right ignition timing signal to the Megasquirt ECU.
I'm going to study at Oxford (starting next week), so if anyone from UK can sell me this part I don't need to pay the shipping to Portugal!
Regards

While I was in Portugal (Easter vacations) I did some updates to the hachi.
My hand custom made gauge pods eh eh eh
The gauges are a bit "flashy" and modern but I think they're more into the purpose and philosophy of this project.
I have this photo too but the colors were just way too messed up becouse of the camera "night settings".
So all that blue isn't really there!

Nice lightshow!
Where are those gauges located? Inside the heater panel?

Yep, the gauges were mounted where the heater panel used to be.
I've got all the heater parts in a cardboard box back in the garage so I don't really need the heater controls... (just weight! )
grothae86:
I've already sold my previous wheels! I got these one just to have a 14" set:
I'm thinking about painting them in white. Just don't know when....

Actually, I hated to see the car with those rims!
Mostly because they were a bit scratched and rusty.
I don't know what wheels are those. My friends and I used to joke with it, saying that they were Toyota Dyna rims!... eh eh eh
So you say they're rare?...
I'm starting to feel sorry for having sold them....

what do you mean by template?
I didn't use any sticker whatsoever. I've just sanded the original lettering on the cam covers and painted them normally.

Well, a little update...
Got a Corsica steering wheel and did some cluster mods to go with the light from the recently added gauges.
And mounted, yesterday:

Oh ok!
The zones with letters were spray painted in their colors without any proection around the letters.
Then, everything was sprayed in gray. After a while, the gray paint on top of the letters was removed using a soft sand paper, making the other colors appear.

Well, time to a little update...
Next week I'll go back to Oxford, so I'm trying to work on the car while I can.
Bought a pair of strut bars, front and rear.
The old front strut bar getting out...
...and the new strut bar getting in:
After some cutting and welding, the rear strut bar was in place:
Had to redo the strut bar mountings, otherwise it would have been impossible to mount everything properly.
Worked on the interior a bit too.
Made some metal plates to cover the radio mounting zone and the gear shift lever, and fabricated a new metal mounting plate for the gauges.
The gauges were painted in black, cause the original "greyish" look was a bit to flashy for my taste...
Also got a set of velocity stacks
I need an "ITB'ed engine" to mount them now...
Maybe a 20V, one of these days...
And one final picture among friends...
