Ha! So this is YOU, Trond!
I'll look out for this project in future and perhaps we can help with the sourcing of some parts for this car in the near future.
We're just completing a 20V blacktop conversion into an AE86, using the tidiest conversion bits we can find - within a budget. It's nearly done now - then will be mapped using a Freedom ECU. So maybe this will be useful learning for your project. It deserves a 20v Blacktop. That would be awesome in your little Corolla

You are on to something there I`m gonna drop in a 4A-GE and gearbox from an AE86 + a proper rear end when the suspension, brakes and everything else is sorted. I figured I`d start with an engine I have at least some knowledge on, and when it`s all tested and found to be a nice setup, I`ll start looking for a 20V. No point in increasing the power if there is something lacking in any other area. I`m basically doing to this car what I should have done to the AE86 if I hadn`t sold it. But no gutted interior and rollcage in this car, it`s way to clean for that.
I`ll be needing lots of goodies when I do the swap! My earlier experiences with both Newera Imports and Newera Parts are nothing but flawless, so I can promise you that I`ll ask for your advice and services when the time comes.

Tomorrow the car has been with me for a week, I`ll post some pics when I get my camera back from a friend! It`s almost as good as I was promised, but it needs new paint. I`ve also put tires on the rims, and I`ve started bidding on used parts from yahoo auctions, mostly for the suspension.

Nope, i did not My interior is ok, the only negative thing so far is that the fabric on both seats was torn in the same place. I`m actually changing some of the interior, what are you looking for?
Anyways, I managed to delete some of the pics on my camera, so no proper pics of the car today. I`ll take new pics one of the coming days. Here is a few of the pics I didn`t delete:

As I mentioned earlier, I managed to find some goodies on Yahoo Auctions
- AE86 front struts, complete except calipers
- AE86 front calipers
- Cusco camber plates
- TRD 6kg/mm front springs
- Roll Centre Adjusters
- Stiffer leaf springs.
I don`t really know much about these, only what the engrish translation of the auction told me. Just for the record, HIRUKURAIMU means hillclimb, and NOMARUSHAKKURU means something like normal shackles
| Quote: | | HIRUKURAIMU (hillclimb) original TE27, 37 for the leaf spring racing! The amount of down about 7 to 8 cm in NOMARUSHAKKURU (normal shackle I think?) to respond. In the race for the chattering little, I think the image of racing is TRD shocks such as matching well with either foot and lithe like it. Circuit is also in the performance.Others, a leaf spring car matching good harmonic KIT F-8 and R-stage full strip adjustment as well as shock. |
Should make a difference to the boat-like handling the car has right now.

Nice to know I'm forgiven hehe
Damn your wheels look nice... let me know your price if/when you find out you can't make them fit

for both of them: look on Yahoo Auctions Japan, because Europe is LHD, it's no use for you ozzie guys, and the gauge panel with heater controls only went in the TE27's, so thats Japan only too.
Both items do come by every now and then

I've been looking and bidding....... under bidder on both last week
But now poor again, so will wait a while before trying again.
At least have now solved the problem of where I can put the AE86 so I can get the KE25 in the garage, hence reason for being poor

Small update!
I`ve painted and fitted the flares, and I`ve also installed hubs from a KE30 up front so I could get rid of my super awesome 12" winter tires. No pics of this yet, since I still have winter tires on the back, looks rather stupid. I did mange to take a pic of the car with the flares installed, and the 15" wheels put in front of the 12" steelies. Yes, it`s kinda childish, but I just couldn`t resist the urge

what did you have to do to fit the flares?
The fronts fit quite ok i saw, but the rears are a bit strange

Hi!
Well, the fit was pretty good on mine. They require some sanding along the backside, especially around the area where you bolt them to the body, but all in all it was a pretty straightforward job. I`m going to use some kind of fender flare trim around the upper edge, so it doesn`t really have to be a 100% fit all the way. I am going to do some more sanding when I take the flares off to respray the car, as I`ve noticed places where I could have done a better job
I figured I`d try these for flare trim:

I`ve finally had the rear axles redrilled to 4x114.3, so the rear wheels are finally on the car! I`ve also let this friendly guy called Mr. Bosch help me out with lowering the front springs. The rear leaf springs had sagged so much that the car was way higher up front, so something had to be done until my AE86 front struts arrives.

I`ve yet to remove the parts of the stock fenders that are hidden under the flares, I will do this one of the coming days. There is a bit of scrubbing, but not much as I expected. Up front the wheels touched the inner fender/foot wells, but a bit of hammer bashing cured most of that. In the rear, the wheels touch the lip on the stock fenders, but this material is going to be removed anyways.
Edit:
Sorry for the piss-poor pics, I`ve got much to learn when it comes to the art of photography. I`ll get someone with more skills to take proper pics of the car for me sometime during the summer.

Nice! Put them on and get your wheels pushed all the way out there, totally transforms the car!

today, whilest scavaging through the shed of a friend of mine (who has 6 VW Beetles...) i found that the strips beetles use to mount the fenders on could work just as well as any other strip, and will be loads cheaper then any other flares strip you'd ever find i guess.
I've ordered a roll of fenderlining for a beetle for like 15 euro, enough to do a beetle (who need longer lines then our little cars )
Maybe you could find something like that too, for your car!

Well, not much happening here. I`ve found the TE27 steering arms I needed to install the AE86 struts, as well as more parts for the suspension, steering wheel hub, adjustable seat rails for bucket seats, wing mirrors etc. I barely missed a TE27 T-series axle with a TRD LSD in the US, which of course is rather annoying. It was sold the same day as I put my dibs in The search continues...
I haven`t really worked much on the car lately, as I`m working offshore for 2-4 weeks at the time, and I`ve been busy with moving etc. Life takes time, unfortunately. Hopefully the winter will be spent in a nice, warm garage together with my car

I'm also on the lookout for a pair of Te27 steering arms.
Very interested to hear what you know of the TE27 rear end. It's the one thing I have had trouble finding any info on. Obviously it is a T series with spring hangers rather than trailing arms. Do you know what width it was? Did it have a panhard rod? Did they use the same diff as on a TA22? I believe very early TA22's had leaf sprung rear ends, clearly unlikely to be found now but presumably the same rear end as a TE27.
At this point I am planning on using an RA23 T series in mine which I believe is the same track as a TA22 rear end though supposedly wider axle bearings. and adding the spring hangers.
