I've always had a fascination with theese little pocket rockets. They are so simple and plain, and just ready to be abused and chucked around street corrners, when you're running late for a meeting Very Happy When i just got my drivers licence i was in love with the suzuki swift GTi.. that litlle engine revved like crazy Very Happy Than i tried the 4th gen dohc civic and it was a better car all round, so i bought it. while swift was just plain ad straightforward, civic had finnesse Very Happy I even addoered the sound of the starter motor Very Happy now moved on to the hachiroku i dont seem to be dropping my GTi obssesion. So a couple of my favourites:

and also tthe eg6.. reputation being shttered by the ricers on the one side and jdm craze on the other.. still a fine piece of machinery.

I would like to drive this car once, its so cool.

this exact one is in mint shape and is going for 1300 eur. If i only had some cash spare Sad Very Happy Basically i like any old gti, except golf 2 GTi. That is not a cool car. Its good for firewood transport.. grr i hate it..

So whats your favourite one?

We dads been driving swift gti's since '92, the first he boughtwas a red one, then in '96 he bought a new purple one (the last gti to be sold in Belgium) then the gti was passed to my older brother who sold it to buy a new swift sport (which is slower than the gti Puh )

My dad owned and tuned a lot of cool cars back in the day. 2 mk2 escorts, fiat 127, ax gt, datsun cherry, 2 swift gti's and 2 s14 one of which is his current car.

I learned to drive in a swift gti. Had my license for 15minutes when i first hit 200kmh in it Embarassed

I have no pics of the older cars, but...

This thing handles just like a gocart. I will own one of these in the future Wink

I'd take the Lotus Sunbeam over any of those. Cool

That said after that the little Pug Rallye would be the purest driving thrills, though I'd take either of the Civics over it based simply on the reliability front.

I'd add in the early 90's Sunny GTi simply because I had one (still do it's for sale in the UK) and it was a sorely underestimated piece of kit. I absolutely loved it. Grew on me day by day...

This is/was mine:

i've driven this colt and the next generation model and its such a lifeless car. maybe the gti is a bit better.

nobody mentioned this one Smile

EDIT: i agree nissans are (aside from silvia and skyline) majorly underestimated. also the 100 NX was a great car, hideous, but great Very Happy

My old GTI's:

From 2002-2006, sold for my current AE86:

5GTTurbo phase 2, had @dyno 150hp/235Nm on the wheels! 0-100 in around 6 secs. (G-tech)

2007-2007:

309GTI16, very fast in standard trim, crappy suspension so i sold it.
Nice car though, better handling then a 205.

Since 2 weeks:

Real Clio Williams phase 2, cilinderhead modified by tuner who did the Clio16v-cupcars. Very fast for a Williams, almost certain it has 150+ whp.

Never driven the Colt gti, but I do like the looks of the car. When I bought it, it reminded me of the Silvia S13... Puh

My favourite is the 106 GTi / S16...

I owned 3 of them and my last one reached 170bhp and 165N.m with some mods...

The more RWD FWD car i know... the rear end is really tricky and fun...

Especially with the last 118kw engine this car was killer! If it is not tuned and there are even original leather seats in it, it is still great car. Maybe two dangerous..
