So the slovenian drift series has finally gotten underway yesterday with a WIN from our bellowed forum member ZaX and his Drift Nissan S13! But first things first.
The event was really good and the standard has improoved greatly. There were over 3000 visitors and many media crews from all the biggest slovenian TV and radio stations, including a LIVE broadcast on two radios. As mentioned some 40 compettitors battled out on 4 different, well thought out track layouts. Going through stages only the fittest remained, making the event ever more exciting as it aproached the superfinals in which the best two went on head to head - D1 style. ZaX was one of them. He showed great performances throughout the stages, nailing every single drift! It was obvious that he will be one of the top competitors to take the place in the superfinals. And the crowd loved him! In the superfinals he went head to head with one of slovenias best drifters Cimerman (Cimpo) with his highly modified drift spec BMW E36. The two of them have put up a show well worth seeing, drifting madly only inches away from each other. After two rounds they were tied and the competition went into sudden death in which ZaX mannaged to pull away from Cimerman's BMW with a faster drift speed and better line thus taking the gold.
I personally have to add, beeing there myself, that ZaX' drifts were on another level. Such smothness and grace combined with very agressive entry angles made his performance truly world class. I know ZaX mentioned that he wanted to have more fun this year and enjoy the whole experiance better - so hopfuly he did. Still i was impressed by the level of professionalism and effort he managed to put in his drifting and setting up.
Again ZaX congratulations!
Sadly tho, there was not a snigle entry with a hachiroku yesterday, so hopefully more AE86 friends will come to the next event. The whole organisation was really good, everything went on smoothly and swiftly, without complications. Judges were fair, so the unsportly behavior from the runner up Cimerman was abit uncalled for at the end; but when he cooled down abit everything was fine. Again i must say that the quallity and level of the event and also the prizes was realy good, so hopefully there will be more entries from our other middle european neighbours next time in Slovenj Gradec.
Pictures and movies will follow. You can start off with some official photos..

here's something for NoHachi.. a monster Fiat 500.. or what is left of it. Tubular chassis, midship (!) boxer motor , 4x coilovers and a fiat 500 body on top for "disguise" the car is wider tha it is long and it went like crazy, probably pulling around 2 G-s on street tires..

Haha, missed the 500 earlier. Pretty cool little monster.. Kinda reminds me of this:

Newly built Fiat500s but this time with proper formula car style dual wishbone suspension, Ducati engine, carbonfibre chassis and brembo brakes. Would make one hell of a city car.
