Hi everybody! Wave

I haven't posted much in here, mostly done some reading about other peoples projects. But finally I'm ready to start my own hatchi project since my mr2 has been on the road for a little while now. Thumbsup

I bought the car about a year ago, and it has just been standing around waiting for time and money since then. (I actually had one trackday with it last year and managed to destroy the crankshaft.)

Btw, this is a long term project, so don't expect an update every day on this Puh

First some pictures of the dusty car.

4 spots found that needs welding so far, however the rear hatch might just be swapped with a FRP one or something. I am also waiting on bonnet and wings in kevlar, but as I have been waiting for about 5 months now (6 weeks was quoted when I ordered) I am starting to loose hope that they will ever arrive. Confused

Thank you!

Hehe, no thanks on the blue interior offer though. I guess we both have to learn how to live with it. Wink

I have no more photos of my friends 510 at the moment, but I'll try to remember it another time. Btw he is swapping over the complete suspension and drivetrain from a s13 into that 510. Puh

Damn, those side skirts and rear bumper add-ons from the "euro sports pack" look really hot on a 3-door! The wheels also make the wheelarches look really wide, I think. What size/offset of the rims and tyres?

Very nice. Smile
I understood that Norway never had any Hachis delivered, so where did you buy the car from? Blonde question

I could still order 13 inch wheels at their store. Very Happy

Is that what they are? I've been wondering what kind of styling it is. Thumbsup
The wheels are 14" with 185/60-14 Toyo R888. Don't remember the width, but believe ET10 offset and some small spacers (3/5mm?). The best thing about the wheels are the weight though, as they weigh close to nothing! Cheerleader Wink

You are correct about Norway never getting any hatchis. Mine was imported from Switzerland in 1996.

Nope, but there is also a shop in Norway called Big Wheels, where the previous owner works. Wink

I have no idea, as there aren't any manufacturer name printed on them. The design looks like the old ATS rims I think? "Made in Italy" is casted though.. Puh

Old unknown spec TRD cams that I plan to try. From the lobes they look like at least 272 i think? (lift about 7.5-8mm)

Had a "little" accident with my MR2 right about the time I was starting on this project, causing me a bit of a delay (and a huge hole in my pocket...) Confused

So now finally its back to the Hathi fun Wave

Update sofar is this: the ugly rust holes has now magically disapeared. Cheerleader

Engine is also almost ready to go in. A local engine guru has been helpful with a full overhaul. What has been done sofar is:

honing and new piston rings
balancing and weight adjusting of pistons, and rods
balancing of crank, flywheel and pressure plate
ARP rod, main, head and flywheel
TRD 0.8mm headgasket
King rod and main bearings
head porting including valve job
shimless bucket conversion
shimming of block and head for increased compression
the old TRD cams in earlier pic installed (if the measurements add up they are 288in/272ex)
T3 cam gears
OS Giken 3.6kg flywheel
T3 ITB adapter and trumpets

I am inclined to use the blacktop ITB's instead of the more usual silvertop ones, but not 100% decided yet..

Oh, and the plan is to run this by a Megasquirt when everything is ready. Smile

The bonnet and front wings also showed up eventually, and man do I love the weight of that bonnet! Thumbsup

Actually it was all too easy and quite scary.. (not to mention embarrasing) Stupid

long drive, tired driver... Didn't pay proper attention for a few seconds and suddenly it was too late to break for a turn (wasn't even going fast). The choice between hitting a wall of stone or aiming for the grass was easy, however once on the grass the car just went along at almost the same speed regardless of my inputs. Then we tipped downhill not knowing what was on the other side... (this happend on a montain pass with *really* steep hills). I had never thought I ever would be glad to hit a tree Puh
