this may have been asked before,but why was initial D the movie filmed in japan in chinese language using chinese actors?seems a bit strange??/

Because the people with the money producting the movie where from HongKong, nothing more nothing less.
Japanese love making cartoons, HongKong people love making live action movies

But real drifting doesn't tell a story?
And X is better the Y is a stupid discussion anyways, all three are enjoyable aslong as you fast forward through the bad acting in the movie

It seems strange at first, Japan in Cantonese. But movies are filmed all over the world in English.
