Well I'm converting my 3 door AE86 into a trackday car. I'm not a good racecardriver (I'm too damn carefull), but I think its funny to build cars. I have done a few engine conversions on FWD Toyotas and done a few engine rebuilding and tune ups. I'm educatet Toyota car mechanic and have worked with Toyota for 10 years now.
This will be my first actually racecar build and I try to do it all by myshelf.
The basic car was importet from Switzerland, as the Danish one are too rusty. Unfortunally this one also have a bit hidden rust, but not too much.
In fact, this car will not be a 100% racecar because it should be able to run on the streets, as the trackday rules i Denmark said, that the cars have to run with numberplates and therefore has to be streetlegal. The car have to pass MOT test every 2 years, so I have to build it, so I can change it in a few time
The original idea was to build it, so I can make it 100% stock again in a few days, but this will be too difficult so I change the plan.
I will also try to build the car after the FIA and DASU (Danish Automobile Sports Union) rules, so the car can be converted to a 100% racecar or rallycar some day.
With all that in mind, I can start to make it happen
I did't have any dry ice, so I took some regular free snow. Well the tempereture in the workshop was only 1,5 degrees celcius.
I only used this tool and it took me about 4 hours.
I removed almost 20kg.
Some of the hidden rust
Took this part from a EE80 Corolla, fits perfectly, but the corners dont.
I borrow this piece of tool. And spotwelded the roof, dorholes and the right rear fender.
I also spotwelded it a bit

Phase 2, allmost 8 months without doing anything. It have also been winter and I have no heat in my workshop.
I hammered up the fenders and sealed it.
This is with 7x15" ET -5, and the wheel don't hit. The spring stop is removed. I think I can run with a 7½" or 8" ET 15 with the car not so low.
It was time to get it up
I have to repair the old parts, because U can not buy them anymore.
I will try to make a new frame here so the lower 4 links can be more stiff.
Its done in a regular 0,8-0,9mm sheet metal and bended in hand between to pieces of solid metal.
The finish part

Here's some of the stuff I have collectet.
TODA 4-2-1 header. It only fits RHD and my car is a LHD, so I have to make a few adjustment to the steering rack.
Whitelines, pretty rare here in Denmark
Sparco stuff
Quaife quick steering rack
TODA 200mm upratet clutch
Slightly used TEIN suspension.
18L safetytank
KaaZ 2way LSD
Reinforced enginemounts, and it also lower the engine 10mm
TRD Carillo Formula Atlantic con rods with 19mm pin
Here's my new baby, fully portet and flow testet smallport head. There is maked room for high compression pistons.
The porting and flowing is done by a motorcycle tuner and he actually put material on around the valveguides and the guides are changed to a thinner type. The valves are polished and I think he did a 3 angle valvejob also. The guy I bought it from, used it on his rallycar. He claimed that the engine produced 196hp and 190nm @ crank with custom made 288' duration and 8,0mm lift cams with stock buckets and springs.

This looks very nice! I wish I would've thought of doing the ones on my car the same way.
BTW, I used to have a RWD Starlet with a 4K, 300deg cam, bike carbs, etc. One of the lower link brackets got torn off the car on a hard acceleration. Bracing the lower links certainly is a useful thing to do.
