I´ve noticed that my spark plugs are a bit white, due running on stock ecu with intake and exhaust modifications, since I don´t want to go (can´t afford to go) standalone I just thought I´ll fit my FPR that I got a while ago for free. Some nice blingy bits in my engine bay and together with the braided lines it adds a lot of street credit and makes me dirft million times better, Iirc...

In order to make it work you obviously need some sort of gauge to see what you´ve adjusted. I bought this lovely Innovate MTX-L kit for 145GBP delivered from ebay. Very good kit, does datalogging, creates narrow band signals to feed a standalone ecu that don´t support wideband unless you unlock it for big dollar.
Funny enough the initial setup, at 40psi turned out to be spot on, alternating between 12,5 and 13,5 and only going up to 14,5 when hitting the limiter. That´s how we like it.

Finally only 1 month later and after a lot of missunderstandings I finally got my rear GAZ coilovers. Now its time for some lowering. If anyone is intrested. Your best bet if you want to go coilovers on an AE86 is to go with 1,9" diameter springs, cause ONLY these will clear the turrets. Mine are (unforunatly) 2 1/4" so I had to slot the mounting hole and space the spring perch down, so it clears enough. GAZ offers 2 types of coilovers, 1 set in standard lenght and a set that is about 1,5" shorter than the TRD blue shocks I had before. Perfect if you want to run low. Mine were made to special order with a sperical bearing at the bottom instead of the rubber bushing.

Lowering the rear of an AE86 fu**s up the geometry, cause traction issues and axle hop. These tracktion brackets correct the angle of the lower arm back to its original position. The ones I got are a lot better than the ones you´ll usually find. They offer 3 adjustments, wich are drilled ad an radius to keep the pinion angel right, and they are a tight fit not just bolted on. If anyone is intrested, as this type is not avaliable (anymore?) I started making them, CNC waterjet cut and powdercoated, haven´t made a final decision on the price, but it should be around 130GBP mark.

3mm Macrylon rear window, saving me 4,2kg. 1 Macrylon sheet for 110GBP will just completly cover a 2dr AE86 Wink

Also fitted my TRD LSD with a better diff ratio, than what my welder ran before (4,3 instead of 4,1) and gave the car a full oil service. After trashing the 3rd gear of my G-box is got better with some fresh Redline MT90.

One thing I had planned for a long time is to change my doors, mine are rusted to fu**, as the mounting points for the hinges are rusted out the rest of the doors. Got some lovely FRP doors with 1 carbonfibre/ aramid layer on the inside for splintering protection. Again with macrylon windows. I know that massproduction fibreglass parts fit bad, but the hours that went into these doors to get the locking, key, and handle functions working, together with making it fit into the car...

This picture was taken on 06.10.2012 about 4:00 in the morning, just hours away from the next Lydden Hill drift practise day. Packed the car with 6 sets of tires, tools and spares and went to bed for probably an hour...

Made it to Lydden Hill, too late, missed 3 sessions, but at the end of the day I got my 6 sessions destroying 6 sets of tires. Finally had the balls to manji the straight after the paddock bend did a few good ones but I nearly crashed backwards into the barier when I lost it once, that was incredible lucky, as it only left scuffs on my rear quarter.

As a summary, all the mods made the car better again, I got more seat time and fell confindent enough to booked the BDC licence day in November. Until than I´m waiting for a pair of used 264° HKS cams, gonna relocate the battery and spend the money on cornerweighting the car and get the suspension set up, cause at the moment it works, but I have no idea what its set to.

I´ll add pictures and videos of the last practise day as the turn up in the next couple of days Wink
