oil pressure high
My car had a oil pressure gauge installed, the reading is always above 100psi...

I think this is a wrong reading. What could be the cause? Where should I look for to fix this problem?

I'm guessing that this isan electrical gauge (only wires) ?

Does the needle stay at zero when you turn the key ON but don't start
the engine ? Have you double checked the wiring ?

Did you use teflon thread tape when you fitted the pressure sensor to
the engine ?

Wrong sensor? Dash light on/off sensor being used with an analog gauge?
Gauge NEEDS its matching sensor/sender.

As the oil pressure gauge in the stock cluster is not moving, my wild guess is the original stock oil pressure sensor was cut and connected to the external gauge.

The guage reading over 100psi right after start:

Is this the wire to the stock oil pressure sensor?

You may have more than one problem !!

If your aftermarket gauge is connected to the OEM sender, that will be
one problem. The OEM sender pulses when the engine is running, and
switches current to ground. The pulse rate varies with engine speed )oil
pressure). It is very unlikely your aftermarket gauge can read pulses.

The second problem is that the OEM sender should not be switched to
ground when the engine is not running. So if your gauge pegs as soon
as you turn on the key (engine not running), you either have a wiring
problem, or the sender is broken and shorting to ground.

Solution... get the correct sender for your aftermarket gauge, and check
the gauge wiring Thumbs up!

Get sender for that gauge, right now you`ve got a switch..
I think the Oil Pressure Sender thread diameter was 1/8"NBT or something like that (Its a conical thread)

Looking into your engine bay over the left fender, the sender is a large church-bell looking "thingy" to the left of the oil filter, under the exhaust manifold.

If you`ve got a Oil Pressure Switch (Which is bad in your case) it looks like this:

An Oil Pressure SENDER (Which is what you need) looks like this:

Thats an aftermarket one but the OEM Toyota one is near identical

So either the aftermarket gauge company has to offer that sender, or you`ll have to get a sender a few sizes smaller and make an adapter, or just install the OEM stuff: It works..[/img]

I'll take the chance to ask something. With the digital dash i lost the oil pressure gauge... And i want to install one on my car!

Well.... Now i don't have a oil pressure gauge, just the unit that signals oil pressure being faulty.

I must do a T to separate de signal and the oil pressure sender.

Now, what do i need to get the correct readings?!

Forget the T-junction and get yourself an oil pressure sender with both pressure and warning contacts. Make sure the gauge you use matches the resistance range of the sender, usually sticking to 1 brand (VDO for example) is a safe bet.

My oil gauge on the stock cluster, it dose not look like a on off switch. I wonder if all stock oil pressure sender is a switch?

My next step will be connect back the stock sender to the stock cluster. And then buy a new oil pressure sensor and install it on the oil cooler connector, I hope this is better.
