Idle speed problem
I have a problem with idle speed. It is about 1800 rpm and that is a way too much, I noticed that air valve whos job is to raise idle speed when engine is cold is not working good and I put som rubber part in hole of that valve and speed fall a bit down, at about 1200 rpm but that is also too much. Becouse I "close" that valve ( under TPS ) engine revs vhen is cold at about 800 rpm but whe warm up, idle is at about 1200 rpm.


Have someone got any clue what is wrong?

I know that everything is old and I suppose that maybe "round metal part on intake conected to gas pedal" is worned up and bad air is circulating near that plate.

Does some one have got some similliar problem and sucessfuly solved it?

Idle speed problem
If the thermostatic idle-up valve (under the throttle body) is
working, the idle speed should DROP as the engine warms up.
That is, the valve should close and reduce the amount of air
allowed to bypass the throttle butterfly (round metal plate etc).

You can check the effect of the idle-up valve by blocking the intake
hole to the valve with your finger while the engine is running. When
cold the engine idle speed should drop by approximately 1000 rpm.
When hot the drop should be approximately 100 rpm.

I find that valve and with some rubber part "close" intake of air for this valve but iddle is still too high.

Idle speed problem
The idle speed adjustment screw is under a rubber plug on the top
of the throttle body. Before adjusting this screw (to control the amount
of air bypassing the throttle butterfly) you should check :-
1. The throttle butterfly is closing fully (push it closed with your
finger while the engine is running)
2. There are no vacuum leaks in the intake manifold gaskets
3. There are no unplugged hoses to any of the tubes on the throttle
body (P/S idle-up, A/C idle-up etc)
4. There are no open holes into the intake manifold from missing
sensors

Idle speed problem
I will check, but my opinion is that throttle butterfly is worn out. I will check at EPC can I order a new one.
