Just buy a Nissan 200SX S14.

Its cheap, powerfull, proper FR, can carry 4 people and has a boot for luggage.

Alternative? Lexus IS200, maybe TTE compressor. 150 to 200 PS, five person, 4 door, boot, RWD with a Torsen LSD, fantastic steering and gearbox.

Why cant you drive an 86 anymore there in DE????????

moral dilemma
I am now a temporary citizen of germany and have to drive car on german reg. plates . if the polizei caught me driving my rolla after 15.03. 2009 they will punish me really bad (up to 1200 euros)
the thing whit 200 sx is if you want a really good one than it the same thing like subaru impreza, just to expensive 8000 euro and more,
and is200 was my first choice but 155 ps is not much , then a compressor and a bigger brakes and list never stops...
just wanna car ready to go , dont want another project .

200 sx for 8000 euro that's really expensive. You can find cheaper ones in good condition ,you just have to look around abit.

Don't buy an escort ,they look horrible.

there is one 200sx for 3500 I might go for it, but it has a AT gearbox Sad
escord rs 2000 is ugly but it is a kick ass car , it has a L.S.D. , quaife I think
and handling is superb for a FF car

MR2's kinda boring and goes light at the front at higher speeds and will take some money to make it handle OK for track use, Escort's a not so interesting FWD Ford.

The 2.3 16 is well engineered car, although a bit heavy & slow-ish unless you spend a lot modifying it.

If in Germany, I'd do as the Germans do - Get a decent BMW. Cheap and cheerful to maintain there and if the modifying bug bites you can just fit a bigger engine from cars in the scrap yard...

You should be able to buy a cheapish E36 M3 there, I'd guess. 4 door ones especially aren't popular..
They're not bad cars, although the Vanos can fail, they lose power if valve clearances aren't spot on and suspension bushes tend to perish. Nothing that can't be put right.

Just get an decent E36 BMW, 3232i or 328i add an 325i LSD and you will be a happy man.
Good fuel economy, great for autobahn, cheap parts, reliable.

200SX are for 4 midgets and no boots space, trust me.

I had an 200SX S13, and I have to say, that I wouldn't trade my AE86 back for the S13. Try to get a decent BMW E36 M3 or 330i. Decent suspension, LSD and it will be big fun to drive. I was also thinking a few times, about getting a crapy BMW to build a trampdrifter.
