DJexor: as i recall, fensport.co.uk are selling reconditioned 4a-g engines. A 87-89 redtop goes for 300 UK pounds i think..

yes billzilla says that the combustion chamber on both engines are identical,

the head is lowered and i plan to use metal head gasket,
but the benefit is to better the flow in mid range,

The 87-89 redtop engine is the 7 rib block with the bigport tvis head.

The engines are low milage used Japanese engines for £395

they also do low milage bluetops at £295 but shipping them anywhere else but the uk would cost lots.

I fitted a phase II engine in the past that i got fom them, the thing to remember is that these are fwd engines and need a few bits and pieces swapped over so you can fit them.

..edit.. don't forget to add 17.5% to the prices for tax within the EC

ok the head was bigport from an 88gti, but complete with polished ports, matched to tvis manifold and exhaust, valves with 3angle job polished, bigger cams 240?, springs etc. i buy it for 100eu as spare,
the guy has also gearbox from ae92
