help, engine dies at startup - (56k Warning - SOLVED)
Maybe the coil is bad? Dunno. If you're sure you have fuel and spark, have a sniff at the exhaust. If there's a lot of fuel vapor coming out, it could be the engine is flooding with fuel. Had this on a friends car a few years back. It refused to start, so we pulled the efi fuse and ran the starter long enough for the plugs do blow dry, then reinstalled it. It then fired up on the first try.

Oh and by the way, if those pics of the cams are with the engine at TDC, then something is wrong.. at least if they are the stock cams. You should be able to see a dimple in the camshaft through the oil filler hole with the engine at TDC.

Create check list now and proceed, don't use your memory only.

Unplug injectors, so no extra fuel is wasted.
Attach timing light to #1 lead.

Swing engine over using starter.
Watch timing mark, adjust to 10degrees btdc.

Timing is now set. If you leave distributor lined up as is it may be at 0degrees in stead of 10 Smile

No reconnect injectors.
Try to start.

If no start?
-Check injectors have +12v
-Check coil still has 12v
-Check fuel pump is turning on.
-Check for air lock in fuel line.
-Loosen 22 on fuel rail, crank until fuel squirts out Big Grin
-----REMEMBER TO RETIGHTEN

Turn on ignition lights, perform a dignostic.
Engine wont start if error code 6? No G/Ne signals

Let us know how you get on.
