genuine AE86 seats -> convert to rails ?
Hi
Have someone tried to use genuine rails from seats for another (bucket) seats. I'm considering is it possible, i don't need it long term but could use it for few months until some work on car is done. So, can rails be cut off genuine seats and used ? Thanks |

sure to some extent - if the bucket is side mount then you'll have to weld/bolt the L profiles to the rail...
main problem though is that the seat might end up rather high... AE86 ex-daily |

Seat has mounting holes at the bottom.
Genuine rails are pretty low, main problem is the car floor. With side mount seats, it can go lower, but with bottom mount.. not sure. Nevertheless, must try, need some seats fast in the car

well if they are bottom mount then you should be fine... if the rails don't line up with the whole you might need to weld some strips of metal across and fit the seat to the strip... make sure to use proper strength material for the strip though

Yes. I have OEM seat rails on which I adapted a flat steel bar on which I bolted my Recaro seats. So it does work, I just had to make the steel bars twice until I found the perfect lateral sitting position. Sitting height is quite identical to OEM seats.
