On the road, the stacks will suck hot and dirty (oil mist, etc). So the real power will differ.

Why would you do that on a dyno? That's what the blower is for. In real life, you drive without it?

Do what? Don't have plenum? In road driving, the cold air will go through the rad and get hotter. Also the air will then get "trapped" under the hood and get hot from the engine.
If with closed hood the itbs draw cold air, then all the engine bay should be cold... Confused

I'm questioning a dyno with an open hood. Kind of pointless if you want real-life accurate results

your plenum is to small - the basic design doesn't look too bad

from the pic I can see two issues, one too small; second the plenum roof at the 4th stack is most probably too close unless your stacks a very short...

you could try to increase the plenum on the lower end and feed the air through there, this has two advantages, the first stack won't be force fed as much and you gain more volume.

PS: I agree a dyno run with an open hood is as realistic as oem figures...

probably one of the best dyno setups I've ever seen is this one

fixed the link, don't know what wasn't good but it works now Smile

Dynapack is my personal favorite - I almost bought one before I decided to live a life all over the world. The value and quality is awesome and being more portable than most conventional dynos offers a lot of opportunity to regain the investment.

well Dynapack is only the Dynamometer - the fan setup in the picture above is a custom build.

If you are on a budget the tend to have test and refurbished systems all the time. So you're looking for around 30-40kUS$ for the smallest 2WD setup which is good for around 400hp

send me your E-Mail through PM and I'will forward the information I have - they are from March 2010 so prices are slightly higher as they got cheaper by now. Or contact them yourself http://www.dynapack.com Wink

PS: for what I had planed back in 2010 - I would have had the investment easily back within a year.
