I guess I dont need a spare set, but that's hoarding for ya. Tongue

Difference between lights....

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - The A6 Celica/Carina topic]

Facelift on top, prefacelift on bottom.

Facelift have the headlight surround that goes along bottom and top of the lights, prefacelift have the surround only going around the bottom and sides, the bonnet trims them off at the top.

The indicators are smaller on facelift ones, they go between the top and bottom surrounds, instead of just above the bottom surround.

Also, the front grill is different, I think the prefacelift grill is wider from memory.

I ended up swapping grills with 'toyota loyal' because he had prefacelift lights with a facelift grill, and I had vice versa.

The twin round lights setup uses prefacelift twinsquare indicators and grill BTW.

You're also gonna have to chop off some brackets to suit the headlights you've currently got, and the mounting points on the gaurds are slightly different too.

Choppity chop! Evil

I'm actually not going to do any badgetuning, so don't worry... The idea is to remove the -TR and make mine a GT when the 4AGE is in it. Smile

Nope, GT badge was also used for the 4age versions after it replaced the 2TG

I figured out that the R-badging is the "racing" spec because the R-versions feature "bucket"-seats (ahem!) and have stiffer springs.

I collected the specs some time ago here:

It's interesting that the TA64 celica group B car used a live axle instead of the IRS setup.

I wonder why?

I've heard somewhere else (cant remember) mention that IRS is no good for rally, perhaps if you need heaps of suspensions travel then having a diff go straight up and down is better than IRS going through an arc.

*shrug*

Obviously most/all modern rally cars are IRS, perhaps they use something different to the older style trailing arm setup.

I wasnt fussed whether I got an IRS or live axle carina, both have their ups and downs. Although I'm sure the IRS one is more comfortable when just cruising etc. (Not that that's what mine is gonna be for Evil )

Celica IRS axles do have the nasty tendency to react heavy on lowering the suspension. You get MASSIVE camber gain when the car is lowered or raised. And with big travel suspension like used in rally, that means A LOT of camber change.

I think the modern cars use double wishbones i guess, less camber gain Smile
