Hi there
Is there anyone thinking trip to 86 fest to mondello ireland. Few of ae86 are soon ready and Many years thinked about the "road to 86 trip". Many countrys and Not far 10000km trip to me. But nothing make the trip better than making group of people doing it. I think from videos or pictures what i have looked, not many have done driving this far? Lots of cars close. Love to see intersting places etc on route as well I live finland so Go trough Sweden, denmark, germany... or baltic route Estonia, latvia, lithuania, Poland germany. NOT major difference on mine route. BUT does anyone making that trip? i do it on ae86 |

It's probably a bit far. Never been to Ireland, but it's not in my travel calendar for this year. Maybe next year?
Finland (specifically Kuopio) is in my travel plans this year though, but probably by plane and not by AE86. |

I did the short version of your trip last year. Went from the Netherlands to Mondello in an 86. Great trip
![]() Took the last boat from Hoek van Holland to Harwich in the evening. Slept on the boat. Arrived in the UK in the morning. Waited at customs for a few hours and then drove to Holyhead. Took the last ferry of the day to Dublin and arrived in the evening. Basically a 24h roadtrip. We stayed in the city centre of Dublin. Parking is horrible there, so if you're not after partying, I suggest staying somewhere else ![]() Having a co-driver to keep you in the right lane is also quite useful. The drive from Dublin to Mondello is only 45min and good fun because the amount of 86's on the road increases as you get closer. The event itself was awesome! Great turnout and unbelievable track action. We had good weather which helps. Definitely worth the effort. |

It sounds like an awesome trip and it must have been overwhelming to see more than 20 AE86es together!

Looking to get mine 86 good summer road test done. and need think the route what like to drive. But looks like almost 10k km and about 10countrys. few ferry rides also
i think i try go whit 4agze powered car, had that engine as frontcut to ae92 i think about 00-01 and now its getting full overhaul. i think i did drive like 200000km in 15years it was on as roadcar. Was the ferry from Hoek van Holland to Harwich expensive.. that look more fun than driving Bigger citys from "cartrain" did think at first |

But it saved me 240km of driving, a train ticket Calais-Folkestone (€150,-) and getting a hotel in the UK because we slept on the boat. Made the trip more relaxing, so it was worth it imo. The ferry from Holyhead to Dublin was another €200,-. With fuel and everything it adds up to about €1500,- to go back and forth from the Netherlands. It's not a cheap trip ![]() |
