These are ae92 decals.. so it might very well be that the AE86 originals are no longer available.

Shite, are they really?

Balls, not going to fit them if that's the case.

Trying to see the differences:

The trueno lettering is very different (wider and lower), also the word APEX is written in the same font as trueno on the ae92 decals, whilst it is a different font on the ae86 (just look at the letter E).

Sorry to spoil your joy in finding these, I know it can be difficult sourcing parts sometimes and posted my last message seconds after you posted your reply..

You are quite right. Sad

Gutted, thought I'd got a good find there, when in reality I'd waited a month and paid £18 for something that I no longer want.

The difference is obvious really now you mention it.

Chassis code.. that's odd. My Trueno is Japan made, and Toyota here in Sweden can't search on my chassis number. They say it's too few digits.. So do my Toyota dealer have some totally different database or what?

My Toyota is btw Zenki '83. Perhaps that first year was not implemented in system with the longer chassi codes?

Sounds like they can't be arsed to work it out. Think my dealer had some trouble initially but immediately found a way to work it out, so wasn't a problem.

If you've got another dealer which isn't too far away, maybe try there?

Fortunately for us we have an EPC which includeds all the JDM models as we got it years ago when we had AW11 SC's.

From my expirience its the dealer that makes the difference. Most of them don´t care about us, cause the don´t understand why we need genuine parts for such a damn old car, so they don´t bother to really search for us.
I allways go to Toyota with a list and the exact partnumbers for the parts I need, it worked perfect all the time.

I've used the Toyodiy site to search for parts and then ask for them at my local dealer. It works but most of the parts I've asked for so far have been discontinued. Guess I'll have to live with that, at least have a TRD dealer close by who seems reasonable!

Now I'm not gonna steal your thread anymore Lauren Respect! ty!

Good luck with your parts search Bentley. Smile

I think as Fax says, it's all down to how much effort the dealer will go to for you. I guess we're lucky as he seems to relish the challenge of finding what parts are where, but I know from experience that not every dealer is like that.

The AE86 in it's natural state:

Master cylinder removed:

Master cylinder awaiting dismantling. Note on the AE86 it is aluminium, unlike cast iron on the MR2:

Old pistons removed and laid out to remind us that assembly is the reversal of removal:

Indy decided that she had to play ball throughout:

All components cleaned in the parts washer then washed with soapy water in the sink. Now awaiting drying:

Hairdrying the master cylinder to help speed up the drying process:

Mark playing a tune on the master cylinder. Apparently this is a necessary part of the rebuild ritual:

New shiny Toyota parts, we love these:

Lubing the new pistons with red lithium grease:

New master cylinder re-assembled:

Looking nice and shiny re-attached to the servo:

All in situ:

All went to plan, though we had to disconnect the brake pipes to the master cylinder and pump the pedal to get the air out. After that it was just straightforward bleeding. Brakes feel better, though have to say that the old pistons were not in bad condition at all.
