KAAZ differential oil
here? http://www.kaazusa.com/techHelp/tech_Help.htm

If you Search info, you can see that for Kaaz, Cusco, tomei,etc... mechanical LSD, the good Oil is a Mineral Oil GL-5 80w/90 SAE.

It would be a bummer if synthetics dont go well with LSD's... synthetics are a better choice for your gearlife than mineral oils.

Synthetics are more slippy and leave a slight sheen on the surface of the LSD's plates causing a little more initial slip and a little less bite. Doesn't cause any damage or anything, just a slower and less aggressive lock-up.

If money was no object I would use Redline 75W90, but due to the amount of times I have to change gear oil (like every 1 or 2 months!) I can only afford the cheaper mineral Esso 80W90 LSD oil.

The Redline gear oil is also available in "N.S." formula, which has no friction modifier so is less slippy than the regular oil. One could try this and add a little friction modifier until the ideal mix is reached, but again, this is expensive.

Clean oil is most important though - change it A LOT if you are using your car for drifting, rallying, autocross etc

Hope this helps.

BMW specifies a full synthetic for theyre newer LSD's so they either modified the friction plates or they use a new formula of LSD additive.
20vWill, your assumption sounds about right.. synthetic is much stickier so it would maybe leave more slip than is desired. If it doesnt hurt anything I'd like to give it a go once I have a rebuilt rearend. I just want maximum protection for those gears, and synthetic is the best option I think.
