S13 200SX fuel pump also works ok. Right dodo? Smile

Fuel pump seems common problem these days on AE86 so why not upgrade it if the fuel tank is out of the car.

Ok, but it's reasonable to upgrade pump when you are sure that fuel pump is your "bottleneck". I don't know what 4AGE pump fuel flow is but IMHO you don't need upgrade at least up to 150-160hp NA. If you start engine tune, wild cams, higher CR, headers, even ITB - you shoud get bigger injectors and adjustable FRP first (even in some cases - aftermarket ECU).

Use wideband lambda or some kind of dyno to measure AFR.
You must know what AFR is. Then you can make little corrections (if needed) with adjustable FRP or use bigger injectors for more serious enrichment. What are yours at the moment ?

Ivan141 Wrote:The only valid reasons to replace a fuelpump are:
1. The old one is broken..(duh)
2. Fuel capacity not enough..mostly a problem that turbo cars develop.

There is no point in installing fancy fuelpumps if there is no need for extra capacity..you will just be pumping fuel around pointlessly.

It’s just a precaution! I don’t want to stop on the road with 21 year old pump. Now when I took the tank out, I will replace it. It makes sense, hm?

Fun is not the straight line!

Tell me about it...it happened to me last month as you may well have read on the forum.
But I just wanted to point out that a big capacity fuelpump does not necessarily make for better performance. On a stock engine it can even cause more problems due to overstressed FPR and heating up the petrol.
That's why I settled for an ordinary 12B RX7 pump, better capacity than stock but not extreme.
