domi my friend, BadDog use my ex-7MGTE pump already for his 4AGTE project Smile But if the pump is good - why change it on stock car ? Must measure fuel pressure or at least A/F ratio before that.

did you already try replacing the fuel filter? if it's equipped w/ a catalytic converter, could it be clogged and it's time to put in a new one or go test pipe?

What bugs me is the circumstance - why would either one happen while running low on fuel... Could it gather such a massive ammount of junk in the tank to actually have such a great effect on fueling/exhaust system??

Thats what happened with my DeLorean.... Especially a car that has stood still for any given period of time in its life collects loads of gunk in the fuel tank.
Normally the fuel filter should take care of it, but if it gets clogged up you already have a problem, but also if it lets the junk go through it can really mess things up further down the lines clogging injectors and that sorta stuff..

Still I doubt thats the case here. Fuel filter may simply be needing a replace and a faulty fuel pump could still be the case.

What should be the pressure of stock fuel pump? I'm thinking about to measure the pressure now, and see is it different from stock.

You must deliver at least 2.3bar at the fuel rail.
Most EFI pumps must deliver 4 bar, then pressure regulator ensure correct pressure for injectors for every particular situation.

Is this carb or injected???

carb type(diaphram) pumps don't usually die do to insufficient fuel, intank electric fuel pumps can be damaged/destroyed in less then 10 seconds of running on empty!

Is the problem the same in gear as well as not in gear?

Check the fuel filter... junk can always be swept from the bottom of the tank

Bump!

Few questions more: Where is the fuel pump located? How to remove it?

pump is under the trunk (in the fuel tank) on 4AGE powered cars and attached to the engine on 3 or 4AC powered cars.

drop the tank straps, lower the tank, remove the pump frame....
