Doc's KE20: - really coming together now
after an evening of struggling with the cage, it's finally back in! Every single bar/part just didn't fit so a lot of hydraulic press/brute force action took place to get it to sit right! Big Grin

Doc's KE20: - really coming together now
when the car still drove, i fitted a centre dash piece from a japanese TE27. I didn't connect it to the engine at that time, so it just sat there, doing nothing!

I couldn't let that happen on the new engine, so i was on the look out for a temp sender. Together with a guy in New Zealand i was searching for a solution. The TE27 seems to be one of the only Toyota's which came with an oil temperature gauge!

So in the end i bought a parts catalogue for the TE27 in Japan and searched for the part numbers and compared. Because me and the guy in NZ where trying different senders, which all didn't work. It worked out that the original watertemp sender in my car should be the same as the oil temp sender! So i set up a little test-rig and started comparing a couple of senders i had Big Grin

So after a little try and error i got the right sender, now the gauge gives the right values for the oiltemp! Big Grin

now let's hunt for a 2nd temp sender so i can get both my gauges working! Big Grin

me mate painted a new bootlid for me, and my flares!

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Doc's KE20: - really coming together now]

So today i went to the barn and fitted the bootlid:

An yes, i know i got the wrong bootlidplate on, but i like this iron '70 better then the plastic '74 one! Tongue
It looks like there is a small differance in color, but i think it's because of the fresh painted boot vs. 2 years of dust gathering car! Big Grin

Also started on refitting the instrument panels:

And today i sold my Work Meister wheels, but i HAD to try them on the car before they went!

[Image: AEU86 AE86 - Doc's KE20: - really coming together now]

I almost felt stupid to sell them!!
I know know that, for my SSR wheels, i'm not going to use 195/45/13 but 205/60/13 tires. A little bit more ballony, but they'll fill the arches waaaay better!

After that, i went to a mate and he dug some little parts from his attic for me, including a set of sparkplug wires i needed! Cool

Really coming together now!

The Celica-Supras you've seen it on! They look and fit much better then the Meisters.

As of today the enginebay is almost back together:

Refitting the wiring loom (and figuring out where all the labels went i've put on 3 years ago!), still some unknown connectors atm... Dumb question.

Startermotor is back in and now working on the alternator!

REALLY, REALLY coming together now! Big Grin
