Disabling the speed warning buzzer on a JDM Levin
Hi folks,

my Levin still has its speed warning buzzer installed. Whilst a very novel and retro feature it gets a bit wearing on the Motorway.

I am guessing the buzzer is behind the circular disk next to the ashtray in the centre console. Can this be disconnected without causing any problems ?

Thankyou in advance.

Regards Ian.

Ian,

You should put a little cut switch into it so you can turn it off and on. Turn it off during normal driving, turn it on at a meeting or somethingSmile

We dont have the buzzer here, no idea where it is or how to disable itSmile

Banpei,

Good point,

Seriously Ian, if it can be transplanted into a LHD europian Levin, I'd like to have itSmile

I think it's located behing the little round plug that fills up the space opposite the cigarette lighter. You can probably just unplug it without any problems. Do keep in mind that I've only read about it, but if it's indeed behind that panel, unplug it.

My car speedo still reads in KPH - anything over 110KPH the ding ding ding starts. I guess thats the Jap speed limit.

Its quite cool - but it gets in the way of the sound of those ITBs gulping in air as the rev counter pulls of the clock past 8K and towards the fuel gauge LOL.

I will take a look and see this weekend. I am guessing that the euro corollas *should* have the same loom as the JDM cars. If this is the case I'm sure we could get some buzzers sent from japan so you can be irritiated too Tongue

Regards Ian.

Well I would definately put a switch in so I can turn it offSmile

But its just part of the identity of the car in my eyes. I thought it was 100kph btw that it would start?

I thought the speed limit was 100km/h in Japan as well... Maybe they put the speed a bit higher not to annoy the driver too much. Wink
