If the thread is totally destroyed, Then the only option is to
cut the bolt any way you can. If you can get the screwdriver under the head of the bolt and lift it a little bit, you can possibly make enough gap to cut the head off the bolt with a hacksaw. Then (if, as you say, you can feel the other end of the bolt) the cut bit may fall out underneath. If not, you can drill it or otherwise destroy it with a thread tap good enough to hold a fresh bolt if you do not tighten it really tight. This part is only a cover, so it does not need to be torqued up !! Cheers... jondee86 |
